On Sunday, August 30, All Elite Wrestling (AEW) walks back into Wembley Stadium carrying something heavier than championship gold: expectations and dreams.
Wembley has become AEW’s measuring stick against its peers in professional wrestling. It is where careers can change in the blink of an eye, where a wrestler can walk through the curtain as a star and walk back through it feeling immortal. This year, AEW has not built its biggest show around just one attraction. It has built it around questions of legacy, identity, pride, redemption, storytelling, and succession.
Can Will Ospreay finally become everything the wrestling world has spent years telling us he could be?
Can Kenny Omega prove the throne still belongs to him?
Can Willow Nightingale finally close the Mercedes Moné chapter on her terms?
Can Nigel McGuinness pull off the type of comeback story professional wrestling movies are made of?
That’s what makes this card interesting.
Every match has consequences beyond Sunday night—for the wrestlers, and for Tony Khan himself. So grab your plate, grab a drink or two, find somewhere comfortable with someone comfortable, and enjoy the show. But before the big night, let’s go to prediction school for a minute. Class is officially in session.
AEW WORLD TRIOS CHAMPIONSHIP ROULETTE ROYALE
“Hangman” Adam Page, Bandido & Brody King (c) vs. Open Challenge
This might be the biggest wildcard of the night. Former Champs everywhere. An open challenge at AEW‘s biggest event also creates the possibility of a surprise. Do we get Swerve pairing with Kofi and Xavier Woods? The Hurt Syndicate and Swerve? Or does The Dogs finally get a proper Trios Title run? Mystery benefits the match no matter the placement. It is time to take these titles seriously and put them on young, nasty guys with star power. In a match full of great wrestlers, Gabe Kidd steals the show.
PREDICTION: The Dogs become your new AEW Trios Champs.
MEN’S CASINO GAUNTLET
Future AEW World Championship Opportunity
Now THIS is where Tony Khan gets to play with everybody’s emotions. The Casino Gauntlet is beautiful wrestling chaos because the format creates paranoia.
Anybody can enter.
Anybody can win.
Somebody could even capture the whole thing before your favorite wrestler walks through the curtain. That uncertainty gives AEW freedom to surprise people.
MJF stands out because everything he does circles back toward the AEW World Championship. Andrade carries enough credibility to become dangerous.
Tommaso Ciampa brings aggression.
Chris Jericho brings experience.
Mark Davis adds another layer of uncertainty to the Don Callis Family. But Casino Gauntlets are rarely about only the names advertised beforehand.
Could somebody return?
Could AEW pull the trigger on a direction nobody sees coming?
My eyes keep coming back to one man: Swerve Strickland! This is not just a match. It is business and Swerve is MONEY. Everyone is focused on Swerve winning the Trios Titles. Why not make a big splash and shock everyone?

AEW CONTINENTAL CHAMPIONSHIP & CONTINENTAL CHALLENGE CUP FINAL
Jon Moxley (c) vs. Nigel McGuinness
Now this right here, this is professional wrestling. You don’t need to overcomplicate it. Nigel McGuinness spent years believing his days as an active wrestler were behind him. Now imagine him inside Wembley Stadium, in his home country, with thousands upon thousands trying to push him toward championship gold.
And standing across from him? Jon F’IN Moxley. No sympathy. No sentimental journey. No participation trophies. Moxley is not coming to Wembley to help Nigel write a fairy tale. That is exactly why this matchup works.
Moxley thrives when wrestling stops feeling like competition and starts feeling like survival. Nigel’s best chance is dragging Moxley into his world of technical wrestling and calculated submissions. Every Moxley choke could suck the air out of the building. Every near-fall could have everyone at Wembley Stadium losing their minds.
Common sense says Mox has this one easy, but we know how Tony Khan feels about underdog stories. Nigel McGuinness completes the miracle and Wembley erupts. Nigel raises championship gold. But what does this mean for Moxley and the Death Riders?
PREDICTION: NIGEL McGUINNESS is your NEW AEW CONTINENTAL CHAMPION.
AEW TNT CHAMPIONSHIP — FALLS COUNT ANYWHERE
Kevin Knight (c) vs. Darby Allin
Please remove all children from the screen during this match. Secure anything breakable or flammable. Someone make sure medical staff is always nearby.
AEW gave Darby Allin a “Falls Count Anywhere” match inside Wembley Stadium. We all know what that means. Darby does not see architecture. He sees potential landing spots.
Kevin Knight has evolved tremendously. The athleticism was never in question, but confidence, aggression and championship swagger have transformed him into something AEW desperately needs: a young star who legitimately feels capable of becoming part of the company’s foundation.
Trying to defeat Darby Allin in a wrestling match is possible. Trying to defeat Darby Allin at being Darby Allin is a completely different conversation.
That is like challenging Steph Curry to see who can hit the deeper three. Eventually you realize you entered the wrong competition.
Expect barricades.
Expect stairs.
Expect chairs and tables.
Expect some part of Wembley Stadium, which was not designed for wrestling, to become involved. But DO NOT EXPECT Kevin Knight to go out without a fight. And do not expect him to go at it alone either. Maybe we get a surprise debut.
Knight leaves Wembley still champ. Darby leaves as a legend. Neither man leaves walking normal.
PREDICTION: Kevin Knight retains the TNT Championship.
AEW INTERNATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP
Kyle Fletcher (c) vs. Konosuke Takeshita vs. Kazuchicka Okada
Oh, Don Callis is going to hate this, regardless of what he is saying right now and I am going to enjoy every second. Kyle Fletcher, Konosuke Takeshita and Kazuchicka Okada; three elite professional wrestlers. One championship. Approximately zero reason for any of them to trust each other.
This match isn’t simply about the International Championship. It is about Don Callis discovering what happens when you collect multiple alpha personalities and ask them all to stand behind someone else. That arrangement works beautifully until everybody wants the big piece of chicken.
Okada doesn’t see himself as anybody’s supporting actor. Takeshita shouldn’t either. And Fletcher has reached a point in his career where playing anybody’s little brother no longer fits.
Bell to bell, this match could steal the entire show. Fletcher brings athleticism and a desire to be the best. Takeshita brings power and explosiveness. Okada possesses that irritating ability to make championship-caliber professional wrestling look effortless.
The finish almost has to involve the Family falling apart. Maybe Callis tries directing traffic. Maybe somebody refuses. Maybe that refusal becomes the opening chapter of AEW’s next major rivalry. And this may be the end of the DCF as we know it.
PREDICTION: Okada’s next reign of terror begins.
AEW WORLD TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP
Adam Copeland & Christian Cage (c) vs. The Young Bucks
This is wrestling history arguing with itself. On one side stand Adam Copeland and Christian Cage, two men who helped redefine tag-team wrestling for their generation. Across the ring stand Matt and Nick Jackson, two men who helped redefine it for another.
Different generations.
Different philosophies.
Different personalities.
But the same belief: We changed this business more than you did. That gives this match something deeper than nostalgia; it has ego.
Copeland and Christian understand tag-team wrestling beyond moves. They understand timing, isolation, false finishes, crowd manipulation, and how to make one partner desperately reaching for a tag feel like the most important thing in the world. The Young Bucks can turn controlled wrestling into chaos within seconds. That contrast should make this fantastic.
But there’s another variable.
Christian Cage eventually destroys healthy relationships. It is Murphy’s Law at this point: anything that can go wrong will go wrong. I would have loved to get FTR or Daybreak / New Day in on the fun. But I think it will be a banger no matter what.
PREDICTION: The Young Bucks win the AEW World Tag Team Championship after outside interference.
AEW WOMEN’S WORLD TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP
Divine Dominion vs. The Brawling Birds
Sometimes wrestling does not need Shakespeare. Sometimes four women just need to beat the brakes off one another. Welcome to this one.
Megan Bayne and Lena Kross provide physicality, while Jamie Hayter and Alex Windsor bring energy and toughness that says neither woman understands giving up. Hayter competing at Wembley adds another variable: THAT CROWD.
British wrestling fans do not simply support Jamie Hayter. They become part of her matches. Every lariat suddenly feels 70 percent harder when thousands of people scream along with her. Windsor complements Hayter because neither needs overly complicated offense or elaborate storytelling to appear dangerous. They feel like two women who genuinely enjoy fighting people.
Reminds me of the A.P.A. from back in the day. AEW has gold with The Divine Dominion, but again… Tony Khan and AEW love a good underdog story.
PREDICTION: The Brawling Birds capture the championships.
AEW WOMEN’S WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP
Willow Nightingale (c) vs. Mercedes Moné
You want history? Here it is. Willow Nightingale and Mercedes Moné cannot escape each other. Their careers have intersected at pivotal moments for years. Victory, injuries, championship gold, revenge, and unfinished business keep pulling these two women back into each other’s orbit.
For the first time in AEW history, two African American women are fighting for the crown. Mercedes looks at Willow and sees someone who keeps appearing at major moments in her career. Willow looks at Mercedes and sees the mountain she is no longer afraid to climb. That is the biggest difference between the Willow Nightingale standing here today and the wrestler Mercedes first encountered years ago.
Willow does not have to prove she belongs anymore. She is the World Champion. Mercedes has always understood psychological warfare. If she can convince Willow that her success exists because of Mercedes, she can plant doubt before the bell even rings. But beneath Willow’s smile has always been a fighter.
This match should feel different from their previous encounters: bigger strikes and bigger moments. Mercedes will try to systematically dissect the champion while Willow tries to turn the title match into a fight. Thekla deserved to be in this match. Willow’s legitimate hand injury could slow the match down a bit.
Regardless, this was going to be Mercedes Moné’s big night.
PREDICTION: Winner and NEW AEW WOMEN’S CHAMPION!!!! MERCEDES MONÉ !!!!!
AEW WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP
Kenny Omega (c) vs. Will Ospreay
Some matches need a championship; this one does not. The championship just makes everything more fulfilling.
Kenny Omega and Will Ospreay have spent years inside the same argument/discussion: who is the greatest wrestler of this generation, and who has pushed professional wrestling further? Along the way, admiration became competition, competition became resentment, and resentment became personal.
This is not simply Ospreay trying to defeat Omega. He is trying to escape his shadow.
Anybody who has ever had a sibling or mentor understands that feeling. You spend years doing the work. You survive the moments when you questioned whether you belonged. Eventually somebody calls your name, and it’s time to step up and show out.
Wembley feels like Will Ospreay’s crowning moment. Kenny Omega represents the final test.
Master vs. Student
That’s what makes this fascinating. Omega isn’t a ceremonial legend handing the next generation its flowers. He still believes he is the man, and he intends to remind Ospreay that being spectacular is not the same as being the standard.
Their styles practically guarantee something special: Omega’s V-Triggers and One-Winged Angel against Ospreay’s Hidden Blade and Storm Breaker. Expect counters built from years of studying each other. Expect near-falls that will have Wembley collectively checking their blood pressure.
Omega represents greatness already achieved. Ospreay represents greatness demanding recognition. Every era needs its defining transition.
AND WE WILL WITNESS THE CHANGING OF THE GUARD SUNDAY
PREDICTION: Will Ospreay defeats Kenny Omega to become AEW World Champion.
