AEW CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH: MJF (C) VS. RUSH
AEW Dynamite wasted no time turning up the intensity as the night opened with a fired-up Rush making it clear that his long-awaited opportunity at the AEW World Championship was about more than gold. It was about family, pride, and representing his people. After declaring he was willing to die in the ring to become champion, El Toro Blanco was blindsided by Maxwell Jacob Friedman, who interrupted the interview, mocked Rush, and slapped him across the face.
The confrontation ignited a backstage brawl that security struggled to contain. Later, as Rush made his way toward the ring, Andrade El Idolo delivered an emotional message, urging him to fight for La Raza and everyone who has ever been told they couldn’t reach the top. By the time the crowd thunderously finished Rush’s famous “You get the horns!” catchphrase for him, the challenger looked ready for war.
The opening championship bout quickly turned into a brutal fight that lived up to its No Countout stipulation. MJF arrived dressed as a matador and spent the opening moments antagonizing the Richmond crowd before learning exactly why Rush has become one of AEW’s most feared competitors. The two tore into each other from the opening bell, brawling through ringside, into barricades, and across the arena floor. Rush unleashed his aggression, choking the champion with camera cables, smashing him around ringside, and feeding off a crowd that grew louder with every exchange.
MJF, meanwhile, reminded everyone why he remains one of the most dangerous champions in wrestling, repeatedly targeting Rush’s injuries, using exposed turnbuckles to his advantage, and surviving several near falls that had the audience on their feet. Blood poured, bodies crashed, and neither man showed any willingness to back down as the match evolved from a wrestling contest into a full-scale war of attrition.
Despite a dislocated shoulder, a battered body, and multiple opportunities to quit, Rush refused to surrender. The challenger continued charging forward, even after medical personnel attempted to intervene, delivering one final heroic stand that had the Richmond crowd fully behind him. In the end, however, MJF’s ruthless precision proved to be the difference. After countering another desperate rally from El Toro Blanco, the champion trapped Rush in a vicious LeBell Lock.
Refusing to tap, Rush defiantly flipped MJF off before ultimately fading unconscious, forcing referee Bryce Remsburg to call for the stoppage and award MJF the victory. The champion’s celebration was short-lived, however, as Mark Briscoe stormed the ring to confront him. Chaos erupted once again when Orange Cassidy, Roderick Strong, Kyle O’Reilly, and Tomohiro Ishii joined the party, sending MJF scrambling for safety and ending an unforgettable Dynamite opener.
Winner: AND STILL CHAMP MJF
LIO RUSH VS. MARK BRISCOE
If the opening championship clash set the tone for Dynamite, Mark Briscoe and Lio Rush raised the bar even higher. What started as an unsettling exchange quickly erupted into a mini-classic, hard-hitting battle that had the Richmond crowd roaring from start to finish. Lio’s blistering speed and Briscoe’s grit created a nonstop spectacle filled with echoing strikes, aerial risks, and dramatic momentum swings. Every near-fall drew louder reactions as both men fought as if victory was the only option. In the end, Briscoe survived the chaos, countering the final exchange and drilling Lio with the Cutthroat Driver to score a statement victory in one of the night’s most memorable contests.
Briscoe grabbed a microphone and delivered a deeply emotional message aimed directly at AEW World Champion Maxwell Jacob Friedman after the match. Speaking from the heart, Briscoe reflected on the loss of his brother Jay, the grief and anger that followed, and how AEW helped him rediscover his passion for wrestling and life itself. But according to Briscoe, MJF has brought that buried rage back to the surface, turning their rivalry into something far more personal than a championship chase.
With the crowd hanging on every word, Briscoe reminded everyone that he doesn’t demand opportunities—he earns them. He challenged MJF to prove he’s truly the best and made it clear that he isn’t just coming for the AEW World Championship; he’s coming for the man holding it. By the time he finished, the message was undeniable: Mark Briscoe is ready for a fight, and his sights are locked on MJF. Can he do the unthinkable and become AEW Champion?
Winner: Mark Briscoe
TRIANGLE OF MADNESS IS COMING FOR ALL OF STARDOM
The Triangle of Madness stormed through the crowd, turning Dynamite into a scene straight out of a hostile takeover, with AEW Women’s World Champion Thekla delivering one of the most shocking declarations in recent memory. The self-proclaimed “Toxic Spider” grabbed the microphone and unleashed a venomous warning aimed directly at Stardom, recalling her reputation in Japan as the “Idol Killer” and vowing to finish what she started years ago. With Skye Blue focused on capturing the Owen Hart Cup and Julia Hart determined to reclaim the TBS Championship, Thekla made it clear her own mission is far more destructive. Setting her sights on Forbidden Door, she promised that whether Stardom comes to AEW or she takes the fight to Japan, she’s determined to slam the door shut forever.
The segment reached a boiling point when Thekla climbed a ladder on the stage, stared down the camera, escalated the rivalry from competition to outright hostility by declaring not war but “death to Stardom,” and spat on the company’s logo. In a single moment, Thekla transformed Forbidden Door from a dream crossover event into one of the most personal and combustible battles on AEW’s horizon.
IS OSPREAY READY FOR DUNKZILLA?
Backstage, one of the night’s most intriguing moments unfolded as Jon Moxley delivered a rare vote of confidence to Will Ospreay ahead of his showdown with Mark Davis. Never one for empty praise, Moxley cut through the hype and reminded Ospreay that, despite Davis’ intimidating presence, he is still just a man with two arms and two legs who can be beaten. The Death Riders leader spoke with the conviction of a battle-tested veteran, telling Ospreay that his toughness, resilience, and fighting spirit make him nearly impossible to break.
Frustrated by the escalating gang warfare consuming AEW, Moxley urged Ospreay to stay focused on one goal, take Davis out of the fight, and leave the rest to him. The exchange ended with the strongest endorsement Moxley has ever given the former champion, admitting he does not hand out compliments lightly but that he is beginning to see something special in Ospreay. Is Ospreay officially a Death Rider?
ANDRADE EL IDOLO AIMS FOR THE AEW TITLE
Andrade El Idolo brought his swagger to Dynamite. The Latino Man dominantly dismantled his opponent, overwhelming him with brutal strikes before putting the match away with the DM. But the real story began after the bell. With the Richmond crowd firmly behind him, Andrade turned his attention to AEW World Champion MJF, calling out the man who had defeated his longtime friend and ally Rush earlier that night. Andrade questioned whether MJF truly believed he could defeat “the real Latino man,” instantly raising the temperature around the championship picture.
Before fans could fully process the challenge, the always calculating and egotistical Don Callis interrupted and delivered a major bombshell, officially unveiling Kevin Knight as the newest member of the Don Callis Family. The surprise announcement sent shockwaves through the arena and added another dangerous weapon to Callis’ growing empire, creating yet another intriguing development in an already explosive episode of Dynamite.
Winner: Andrade El Idolo
AEW TNT CHAMPIONSHIP BOUT: KEVIN “THE JET” KNIGHT (C) VS. “SPEEDBALL” MIKE BAILEY
The AEW TNT Championship was on the line in a highly personal showdown as Kevin Knight defended his title against former tag team partner Mike Bailey, and it was clear there was no love lost between the two. Bailey’s speed and precision in striking had the champion reeling early, but Knight, fueled by Don Callis’ guidance, quickly turned the tide with a more ruthless, calculated approach. The action exploded all over ringside and inside the ropes, with both men delivering highlight-reel offense that kept the Richmond crowd on its feet.
Bailey dazzled with his trademark kicks and aerial attacks, while Knight answered with raw athleticism and power, creating a back-and-forth battle worthy of championship gold. As the clock ticked down, every near-fall drew louder reactions from the audience, with neither competitor willing to give an inch.
With momentum hanging by a thread, controversy decided the outcome. Just as Bailey appeared poised to finish the champion, outside interference from Jake Doyle allowed Don Callis to seize the moment and tip the scales in Knight’s favor. One opening was all the TNT Champion needed, as he connected with a devastating avalanche spinebuster before planting Bailey with a short-arm Rock Bottom to secure the victory and retain his championship. Riding high on another successful title defense, Knight grabbed a microphone and declared that joining the Don Callis Family was the best decision of his career, claiming he had finally cut away the “dead weight” holding him back.
With his confidence at an all-time high, the champion set his sights on an even bigger prize, boldly calling out AEW World Champion MJF and proclaiming that his future is “Jet Two Belts.” Whether fans love him or love to hate him, Kevin Knight made one thing crystal clear: his ambitions are only getting bigger.
Winner: AND STILL CHAMP Kevin Knight
AEW TAG TEAM DIVISION HEATING UP
The Dogs, riding high after a monumental week that included taking out both Christian Cage and Adam Copeland, celebrated their rise with beers, kazoos, and the swagger of a team that believes its time has arrived. That confidence quickly attracted the attention of The Young Bucks, who arrived with their usual mix of sarcasm and arrogance, jokingly asking, “Who let the Dogs out?” before turning their focus to business. Matt Jackson questioned whether the surging duo was truly ready for the spotlight, taking shots at David Finlay, dismissing their championship aspirations, and offering to settle things in the ring immediately. Rather than take the bait, Finlay coolly cracked open a beer and reminded everyone exactly where the power lies, declaring that the number-one contenders will wrestle when they decide the time is right. Who do you think should get the next shot at the new tag team champions?
MJF RUNNING FROM BRISCOE?
Fresh off another successful title defense, AEW World Champion Maxwell Jacob Friedman displayed arrogance during a backstage interview with Renee Paquette. Casually addressing his growing list of challengers while relaxing in a cold tub, MJF dismissed Mark Briscoe’s emotional challenge and made it clear that, in his mind, the AEW World Championship belongs only to elite performers at the very top of the industry. The champion scoffed at granting Briscoe a title opportunity, insisting he remains on an entirely different level. With supreme confidence, MJF doubled down on his belief that no one in AEW could touch him and shut the door on Briscoe’s request. Whether fans view him as the greatest champion or the most insufferable villain, one thing is clear: MJF wants no part of Briscoe.
OWEN HART WOMEN’S TOURNAMENT BOUT: ALEX WINDSOR VS. MERCEDES MONÉ
The Women’s Owen Hart Foundation Tournament received a major jolt when Mercedes Moné returned to action. Her surprise appearance instantly changed the atmosphere inside the building. Windsor refused to be intimidated by the global superstar. Instead, she took the fight directly to Moné, matching her intensity and forcing the former champion into a highly competitive battle. Mercedes showcased the confidence and technical brilliance that have made her one of the most decorated stars in women’s wrestling, but Windsor repeatedly answered with hard-hitting offense, athletic counters, and near-falls that had the crowd believing an upset was possible. Every exchange raised the stakes as the two pushed each other to the limit in a tournament match worthy of the occasion.
As the match entered its closing stages, Moné’s championship pedigree began to shine through. Despite Windsor’s resilience, Mercedes targeted openings with punishing Meteoras and relentless attacks. Windsor survived several match-ending situations and kept the crowd behind her, but the former world champion eventually found the opening she needed. After a furious final exchange of counters and near-falls, Moné trapped Windsor in the Statement Maker in the center of the ring. With no escape, Windsor tapped out, sending Mercedes Moné into the next round of the Owen Hart Foundation Tournament and reminding the women’s division that one of wrestling’s biggest stars has her sights set on tournament glory.
Winner: Mercedes Moné
OWEN HART MEN’S TOURNAMENT BOUT: MARK DAVIS VS. WILL OSPREAY
If AEW Dynamite needed another blockbuster main event, Will Ospreay and Mark Davis delivered one for the ages. Former allies turned bitter rivals collided in a brutal, emotionally charged war that showcased everything that has made both men fan favorites worldwide. Ospreay came out with bad intentions, targeting Davis’ injured eye and even throwing his eyepatch back at him in a moment of pure disrespect that immediately ignited the crowd. What followed was an incredible display of athleticism, toughness, and heart as the Aerial Assassin and Dunkzilla traded devastating strikes, breathtaking counters, and jaw-dropping near-falls.
Davis repeatedly used his size and power advantage to punish Ospreay, launching him through the air and nearly ending the match on multiple occasions. At the same time, Ospreay answered with offense in a manner only he can and with the toughness that has made him one of the best wrestlers on the planet. By the time both men were exchanging bombs in the closing stretch, the Richmond crowd was hanging on every second, fully aware they were witnessing something special.
Then the chaos truly erupted. Interference poured in from all sides as members of the Don Callis Family, Death Riders, and several of AEW’s biggest names flooded ringside, turning the main event into an all-out battlefield. Referees were taken out, finishers were exchanged, and alliances collided as bodies flew everywhere. Through all the madness, however, Ospreay never lost sight of his target.
Even after surviving Davis’ most devastating attacks and overcoming endless outside distractions, the former champion continued to fight forward. In the final moments, after an exhausting war that seemed impossible to end, Ospreay trapped Davis in the Death Ground submission, forcing the powerhouse to tap out. The victory capped off one of the wildest main events of the year and served as another reminder that when the lights are brightest, Will Ospreay remains one of AEW’s most dangerous and captivating stars.
Winner: Will Ospreay
