Agit Kabayel (27-0, 19 KOs) gave his fellow countrymen something to cheer for Saturday night in Germany as he scored a third-round TKO over Damian Knyba (17-1, 11 KOs) live on DAZN. The crowd of over 12,000 fans was loud for every punch, and Kabayel delivered the pound of flesh they were looking for.
After the fight, Kabayel was interviewed in the ring and called for a shot at the world title next in Germany, specifically against Oleksandr Usyk.
In the opening round, Knyba wasted no time in consistently pumping his left jab, which kept Kabyel off his game. Knyba then followed up with a right uppercut and an overhand right. Kabayel appeared confused and started bleeding from his right eye, likely from a Knyba left jab. In the last 30 seconds of the first round, Kabayel fought back with overhand rights that pushed Knyba back.
In the second round, Kabayel came back strong as he started working on Knyba’s body with left and right hooks. Kabayel managed to get his offense going, but in bursts, Knyba would land a right uppercut and overhand right that would stop Kabayel in his tracks.
Kabayel was relentless in the third round as he landed a huge overhand right that opened up a cut on Knyba’s left eye brow. It appeared Knyba was taking a breather, and Kabayel took full advantage of it. Kabayel landed multiple huge left and right hooks, which he followed with a right hook to the body that seemed to deflate Knyba. Once Kabayel landed another overhand right, Knyba was on wobbly legs and headed toward the canvas. Just as Kabayel was looking to finish his opponent off, the referee stepped in and stopped the fight.
Although it initially looked like a quick stoppage, the referee might have saved Knyba from a brutal knockout.
