Amanda Serrano Has A ‘Replacement’ Offer For Amanda Nunes

Amanda Nunes’ (23-5, 13 KOs) comeback plans, after a 2-year hiatus, with UFC 324 has hit a roadblock after her opponent, Kayla Harrison, withdrew from the fight. Amanda Serrano (48-4-1, 31 KOs), on the other hand, might just have a plan for ‘Lioness’ to make her return to the octagon worthwhile.

Taking to X, Serrano put up an offer to step into the UFC stage as a replacement for Harrison.

“If UFC and Amanda Nunes are thinking of a replacement, I would love the challenge as I’m still in fight shape. Hope the champ recovers well,” she wrote.

Harrison withdrew from the bout after being diagnosed with herniated discs in her neck, which required surgery.

Meanwhile, Serrano is no stranger to the MMA ring herself, having previously fought in the flyweight and strawweight divisions in 2018 and 2021, respectively. The former ended in a draw, while she won the strawweight fight via first-round submission.

Moreover, she also reminded Nunes that she doesn’t mean any disrespect with the offer and that she has kept herself busy beyond the boxing ring by training with her nephew Jovan, who happens to be the captain of his varsity wrestling team.

“This isn’t to disrespect Amanda Nunes. I think she’s the greatest of all time in MMA. I also know she has incredible hands and loves to use them. I’ve competed in both MMA and jiu-jitsu. Anyone who has ever done MMA and BJJ has always dreamt of competing in the biggest stages and UFC,” Serrano wrote.

“I Just Want To Say I’m Sorry”

Harrison, however, was heartbroken with the way her fight plans turned out. In an emotional video shared on social media, she gave an update on her surgery while also apologizing to Nunes for backing out of the fight.

“This is a tough one. I had to have surgery on my neck yesterday, here in New York City, with the specialist, Dr. Kim. So in lieu of that, obviously, we’re going to have to reschedule the fight. And I just want to say I’m sorry, I’m sorry to Amanda. I was really looking forward to it,” he said.
