Amanda Serrano vs Reina Tellez Fight Results: Serrano Earns A Unanimous Decision Victory

Although she did not get the stoppage, the unified featherweight champion Amanda Serrano (48-4-1, 31 KOs) earned a dominant unanimous decision (98-92 and 97-93×2) over Reina Tellez (13-1-1, 5 KOs) on Saturday night in Puerto Rico on DAZN.

Serrano said in the post-fight in-ring interview that she will keep competing at featherweight, with other champions in the division potentially being contenders for her future fights. Serrano praised Tellez for her performance and promised to include her on future MVP cards.

In the opening round, Serrano stuck to what she said all fight week about being busier in this fight than her last one with Katie Taylor. Serrano applied a lot of pressure while throwing the 1-2 combination down the middle. Tellez didn’t just stand there as she punched with Serrano and landed plenty of punches throughout the round. Serrano’s chin was high, which allowed Tellez to land as many punches as she did.

Serrano continued her relentless pressure throughout the second round as Tellez appeared to be winded, with her mouth open and not matching the output of the previous round. Serrano’s combination punching began to add up, and Tellez had no answer for them. It was all Serrano in the third round, but there were moments when Tellez would land a left or right hook, forcing Serrano to reset. Serrano’s offense continued to be her defense throughout the round.

It was more of Serrano in the fourth as a cut opened up on Tellez’s right cheek from a Serrano left hand. Although Serrano dominated the fifth round, Tellez landed a few hard left hands that caused significant swelling under her right eye. Tellez had her moments, but it was a round controlled by Serrano’s left jab and movement.

In the sixth round, Serrano and Tellez both had their moments as each boxer tried to land some big shots on each other. From rounds seven to ten, it was all Serrano, who secured the decision victory but ended up with a noticeable shiner under her right eye.
