On Friday afternoon in Puerto Rico, featherweight contender Reina Tellez (13-0-1, 5 KOs) came in over the featherweight division limit of 126 pounds ahead of her fight with unified champion Amanda Serrano (47-4-1, 31 KOs). Although the fight will proceed, Tellez will not be able to claim the titles from Serrano if she wins.

Although the scale fail was a little surprising, Tellez took the fight with only three weeks’ notice, and one can only imagine where her weight was when she received the call. Despite the scale fail, Tellez remains a heavy betting underdog and will probably need the performance of her life to leave Puerto Rico with a victory.
