Add FightsATW on GoogleThe return of former unified heavyweight champion Andy Ruiz is set for Friday night, live from the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey, on TNT Sports. Ruiz (35-2-1, 22 KOs) will take on Damian Knyba (17-1, 11 KOs) in a scheduled 12-round bout.
It’s been over two years since we last saw Ruiz in the ring, a majority draw against Jarrell Miller. Since then, Ruiz has recovered from a broken hand injury that sidelined him for a while and has signed with Eddie Hearn’s Matchroom Boxing. His opponent, Knyba, fought eight months ago and was stopped in the third round by WBC heavyweight champion Agit Kabayel. If Ruiz is truly back, he needs to stop Knyba and make a statement. If not, this could be an opportunity for Knyba to get another big fight down the road. Who will come out on top?
