Anthony Joshua’s Former Trainer Is Certain That Jake Paul Is ‘F*cking Crazy’

Jake Paul (12-1, 7 KOs) is no stranger when it comes to accusations of staged fights. However, Anthony Joshua’s (28-4, 25 KOs) former trainer, Robert Garcia, does not find himself among those who say so. With Joshua and Paul set to face each other on Saturday, Garcia is sure that he is crazy (maybe exceedingly so) to face the former heavyweight champion.

In a conversation with the Ring Magazine, Garcia admitted that he did not even think that the fight would even take place, while also commending Paul for making it happen.

“I never thought the fight would get made. I never thought Jake Paul is crazy enough, but Jake Paul is f*cking crazy. He takes those challenges. He knows that he’s making a lot of money,” he said.

Garcia mentioned that money might have been a driving factor for sure. He gave an example of Mike Tyson’s fights from the 90s, where fighters (and teams) would talk about how much money it would take for them to step into the ring with and get knocked out by the iron-fisted heavyweight.

He added that if Paul wanted to get “knocked the f*ck out for 50 million,” he wouldn’t blame him, as he would have done the same. In fact, Garcia does not even see any chance of Paul winning the fight.

“Jake Paul is crazy enough, and he is going to make a huge event. It’s going to be a great event. Jake Paul is doing great things in boxing. It doesn’t matter that Anthony Joshua lost his last fight or the issues that he’s going through. It doesn’t matter,” he said. “He’s a boxer and a real fighter, and he has great power. Jake Paul should have no chance against Anthony Joshua. Anthony Joshua should knock him out cold.”

“Paul Is A Loco”

Matchroom boss and Joshua’s promoter, Eddie Hearn, was only too quick to agree with Garcia’s words. In fact, he was even surprised that the fight even got made.

“As AJ put it, Paul is a loco, man,” Hearn said while talking to The Ring. “We can’t quite believe it’s happening. Even when we got approached about it, we were like, ‘Surely not.’ How can we turn it down? We received a huge offer, and it was a huge amount of money. It’s an easy night of work. So why not?”
