Arsen Goulamirian vs Gilberto Ramirez Undercard Results

Here is an undercard wrap-up for Arsen Goulamirian vs Gilberto Ramirez.

Ricardo Sandoval Scores A Tough Eighth Round Knockout

Ricardo Sandoval (24-2, 16 KOs) & Carlos Buitrago (38-13-1, 22 KOs) were in a slugfest, but one that Sandoval would come out on top as he scored the eighth-round knockout victory.

Both fighters started cautiously, but by the end of the first round, they were going blow for blow. Sandoval stunned Buitrago in the second round but avoided further damage and made it out.

In the third round, Sandoval walked into a straight right hand by Buitrago and was hurt. Sandoval would survive the round, but he was clearly buzzed. Sandoval’s left hook to the body began to wear down Buitrago in the fourth round. Sandoval continued to work the body with his left hook in the fifth but would get counter nicely by Buitrago. In the sixth round, Sandoval landed a series of overhand rights that would stun Buitrago, but it wasn’t enough to score the knockdown.

Round seven was more of the same, but in the eighth, the fight turned into a slugfest as both fighters had their moments. Sandoval landed a crushing overhand right that visibly hurt Buitrago. At the end of the round, the doctors and referee looked at Buitrago and decided to stop the fight. Sandoval earns a tough knockout victory but a fan-pleasing fight before the start of the co-main.

Santiago Dominguez Earns A Not-So Entertaining Split Decision Victory

Santiago Dominguez (27-0, 20 KOs) earned a split decision over Jose Sanchez (14-4-1, 4 KOs) in a fight that appeared to be one-sided but lacked entertainment value. The judges saw this one: 97-93 for Sanchez, 96-94 for Dominguez & 97-93 for Dominguez.

Although there wasn’t too much action in the first round, you could hear Dominguez’s punches and how it shifted Sanchez’s body when he landed his shots. Sanchez’s left eye swelled immediately after the first Dominguez landed right hand.

Dominguez landed one punch at a time during the second round, and Sanchez was using a high guard defense at times to get away from Dominguez’s thudding punches. Sanchez had a bounce-back round as he found success with the left hook to the body and then to the head. He also used his feet well to evade Dominguez’s offense.

Dominguez looked gassed in the fourth round, and Sanchez took advantage by landing smart combinations at mid-range and not getting in close enough to allow Dominguez to get his punches off. In round five, Sanchez was the busier fighter, as Dominguez kept throwing just one punch at a time. Dominguez appeared frustrated and tired by the sixth round. Sanchez kept using some good movement, but he was taking some hard shots when Dominguez was able to land. Dominguez landed a huge looping right hand that buzzed Sanchez, but he couldn’t put his punches together to finish him off.

Rounds eight through ten were more of the same as Dominguez chased Sanchez around the ring, landing one punch at a time. Dominguez’s performance did not match what his record reflects on BoxRec.

Joel Iriarte (2-0, 2 KO) made quick work of Kevin Aguirre (5-3, 2 KOs) as he scored a first-round knockout to open the card on DAZN. Iriarte looked sharp early but it was a crushing left uppercut with all of his weight behind it, which had Aguirre in deep trouble. Iriarte would follow up with a right hook to the body, sending Aguiree down to the canvas. The referee wasted no time in stopping the fight. Iriarte is quickly becoming a fan favorite within the Southern California boxing scene.
