ARTUR BETERBIEV VS DMITRY BIVOL ROUND-BY ROUND LIVE UPDATES & SCORING

Rd. 1: It was a slow round for both men but Bivol was dictating the pace with his left jab. With seconds left in the round, Beterbiev landed a hard right hand down the middle which buzzed Bivol a bit.

Score: 10-9 Bivol

Rd. 2: Bivol continued pumping the left jab but in the second round, added the left and right hooks to the head. Beterbiev was putting distance pressure by cutting off the ring but didn’t land anything significant in the round.

Rd. 3: Things heated up quickly in the third round as Bivol landed some hard 1-2 combinations down the middle. While that frustrated Beterbiev, he closed the distance and landed some hard right hands of his own on Bivol. It was a good round but Bivol was able to keep away from danger most of the round.

Rd. 4: Bivol had a classic Bivol type of round as he used angles and footwork to get his offense off while Beterbiev chased him around the ring. Beterbiev landed a punch here and there but was mostly trying to cut off the ring throughout the round.

Rd. 5: Bivol changed the pace and decided to stay mid-range to Beterbiev which appeared initially as a mistake but it only lured Beterbiev into his trap. Bivol would then move back to the outside as he pumped the left jab, an occasional left hook and a straight right hand.

Rd. 6: Beterbiev was more aggressive this round but his punches mostly landed on the gloves of Bivol. Beterbiev’s most effective punches were the left and right hooks to the body of Bivol which appeared to temporarily bother him.

Rd. 7: Excellent round and the best of the fight so far. Bivol landed a huge two punch combination to the head of Beterboev which rocked him. Beterbiev may have play possum as when Bivol came in, Beterbiev landed some huge shots that hurt Bivol forcing him to hold.

Rd. 8: Bivol used his legs to get away from Beterbiev at all costs. Although the round didn’t have a ton of punches thrown by either man, Beterbiev landed the cleaner punches while Bivol tried to steal the round with flurries with seconds left.

Rd. 9: Bivol got back into his rhythm and dominated the ninth round with movement, smart combinations and everything following the left jab.

Rd. 10: Bivol was doing what he wanted in there as he kept his feet moving, pumping the left jab and sliding in a hard straight right hand when the opportunity presented itself. Beterbiev started to get desperate with his punches.

Rd. 11: Beterbiev had his best round of the fight up this point as he started to pour it on with Bivol having no answer to it. Bivol tried to smother Beterbiev’s punches but those body punches were getting through.

Rd. 12: It was a close round but Bivol did more in the round to taken the last round and maybe even the fight.

The judges saw this one 114-114, 115-113 & 116-112 giving Beterbiev the majority decision victory. The scorecards were questionable and it’s hard to see the fight where Beterbiev won eight rounds.
