Artur Beterbiev (21-0, 20 KOs) will keep boxing as long as his mother allows him to.
The iron-fisted pugilistic superstar is currently gearing up to put his undisputed title on the line in a potentially sensational showdown against Dmitry Bivol (23-1, 12 KOs) Saturday night. While he is undoubtedly one of the most feared boxers in the world currently, Beterbiev will lose to his mother in a heartbeat. Talking to Sky Sports, he recently opened up about the future of his boxing career and the importance of getting a green signal from his mom.

“I think it’s going to be in the future. Maybe on Saturday, maybe later, we’ll see,” he said while hinting that his best performance is yet to come.
However, that hasn’t taken Beterbiev from his upcoming fight. He mentioned that he has been working on his mistakes from the last fight and plans to “do better than last time.” Moreover, while he wants to keep his belts, as it gives him some motivation. He confessed that his true motivation will always be the next available challenge. Beterbiev hasn’t hinted about retiring anytime soon. However, it looks like there is one person who can influence his decision at any time.

“I don’t know. So far, everything’s going well. I feel good. My health is good. I want to continue,” he said. That is unless his mother decides against it, which he hopes isn’t anytime soon.“Yes, but I think my mum never says that. She gives me this power. Like any mother, any mother worries about their child. Yes, my mother worries, but she supports me. She gave me approval,” he said.
“Can He Box And Move”

With fight night just around the corner, many have pondered about what Bivol could do differently to avenge his loss during the first fight. And it looks like Anthony Yarde, who fought Beterbiev in 2023, might just have a piece of advice for him. Talking to DAZN’s Ade Oladipo he highlighted that while the first fight was an extremely close one, the upcoming one will be an even more entertaining affair as Bivol is “ going to have a point to prove.”
“I just think, with Bivol, he’s powerful, but he hasn’t been known for having a knockout punch, and I feel like, even when I fought Beterbiev, I put him on his back foot a lot because I can hit,” Yarde said. “Bivol is a spectacular boxer, and his fundamentals are almost perfect, and the question is, ‘can he box and move for 12 rounds instead of nine like he did last time?'”
