Matchroom Boxing kicks off a busy boxing weekend (January 31) with an IBF junior middleweight title fight between the champion Bakhram Murtazaliev (23-0, 17 KOs) and his opponent, Josh Kelly (17-1-1, 9 KOs), live on DAZN.
It’ll be a little over 15 months by the time champion Murtazaliev steps into the ring after defeating Tim Tszyu in October 2024 for the IBF title. Since then, Murtazaliev has been recovering from an injury but also struggling to find a fight. Now he makes his return to the ring after the long layoff, hoping to defend his title and possibly secure a unification bout later this year.
Kelly, ranked #3 by the IBF, hasn’t lost a fight since his TKO defeat to David Avanesyan in February 2021. Riding an active seven-fight winning streak, Kelly, the betting underdog, aims to pull off the upset and claim the IBF title. Can he beat the fighter who is one of the most avoided in the division?
