Bianca Belair & Naomi Barely Retain Against Meta Girls on WWE NXT

Following a hot RAW on Netflix, NXT was live from the Center Stage in Atlanta, GA. NXT has continued its hot run from late 2024 to now, and having more of the main roster wrestlers show up at events gives the program a rub that could help those young wrestlers with main roster potential.

Right from the start, both teams wasted no time and attacked each other before the bell could ring to start the match. Cora and Roxanne quickly rolled out of the ring to regroup. Once back in the ring, Giulia and Roxanne initiated the real start of the match. Once Giulia had control of the match, she tagged in Bayley, which was followed by a nice pop from the crowd. Cora was able to slither her way to the corner and tag in Roxanne, which is what everyone in attendance was waiting to see.

The match had some good back-and-forth momentum, and toward the end of the match, Giulia hit Cora with a headbutt, which knocked her down. She tagged in Bayley, who climbed up the top rope and landed her elbow drop. Bayley covered Cora for the three count and secured the victory. Overall, it was a solid match to start the show.

A-Town Down Under’s guest on the show was none other than NXT world champion Oba Femi. It quickly went from them showering Femi with compliments to then telling him how he’s never going to make it to the level they have. Femi kept his cool but still managed to unleash a stinger of a line when he said, “In two years, I’ve accomplished more at NXT than the two of you combined.”

Grayson Waller began to campaign for a shot at the NXT world title until NXT General manager Ava came out to put a halt to any title match talk. While she came out, NXT went to a split screen as they also showed former champion Trick Williams pacing back and forth in the back. He finally came out and went to the ring. Williams took out A-Town Down Under, but Femi scooped him up for a powerbomb and thrust him down when he turned around. Femi raised his hand with the NXT title while Williams lay on the floor feeling the effects of the powerbomb.

Even though Trick Williams was still hurt from the powerbomb, he went on to immediately go into the match with Wes Lee. Wasting no time, Lee went after Williams’ injury early on in the match. Williams had some moments, but when he appeared to gain control, he could not follow through with his big moves as he kept nursing his injured ribs. After Williams was fighting off Lee and his crew, he went off the hinge, and after multiple warnings from the referee, Williams pushed the referee away. Williams was disqualified, giving Lee the victory.

After some initial pushing and shoving, Shotzi took immediate control of the match and had the champion Henley right where she wanted her. Shotzi was not taking no for an answer in this match and followed her outside of the ring to get some more, but Henley was able to outsmart her and attack Shotzi’s knee.

Shotzi dominated the match during the picture-in-picture commercial break, and when it resumed to a full screen, she kept that momentum going. Henley was somehow able to shove Shotzi into the ring post and further injure her knee. Shotzi would later hit her senton from the top rope, but Henley would break out of the count. Henley would regain control of the match, which led to her hitting her finisher, covering Shotzi, and hitting the victory.

Bianca Belair & Naomi (c) vs. Jakara Jackson & Lash Legend- Women’s Tag-Team Title

Jakara Jackson and Naomi started the match and went for a more technical wrestling style than expected. Jackson quickly showed why she and Lash Legend have been on the fast track within WWE. The arena popped loud once Lash was tagged and in the ring with Bianca Belair. The site of these two powerhouses in the middle of the ring staring at each other was awesome. Lash versus Bianca will be a huge one-on-one match in the future.

Bianca would later takeover the match and clear house while Naomi was outside of the ring. Lash would eventually get back into the match and take out Bianca. There was a questionable count by the referee when Jakara had Naomi pinned, but she was able to get out of it. Belair returned to the ring, did the backbreaker finisher with Naomi on Jakara, and got the pin. It was a really good match that will see all four women competing against each other again in some form on the main roster, maybe as early as this year.
