Caleb Plant Predicts The Outcome of Canelo Alvarez vs David Benavidez

Caleb Plant (23-2, 14 KOs) will not be surprised by the results of the potential Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez (62-2-2, 39 KOs) vs. David Benavidez (29-0, 24 KOs).

There have long been talks about a super middleweight showdown between Alvarez and Benavidez. ‘Sweethands’, who has fought both fighters had a few words to say about the possible outcome of the fight.

Plant was recently a guest on The Breakfast Club. In conversation, he was asked to share his thoughts on who will win the Alvarez vs Benavidez fight. “I think it’s hard to say. You know, in big fights like that, they have different styles. You know if Canelo caught him with a big punch coz David has been dropped before. He was off balance, but he has been dropped. So, if Canelo caught him and stopped him, would we all be like, man I can’t believe that? I don’t think anybody would say that,” he said.

Plant further mentioned that the response would not be any different if Benavidez were the one who stopped Alvarez. Moreover, he added that it boils down to many of the variables, like who had the best camp and who had the best game plan. This was when he was asked about the loss he wished to avenge the most.

“Well, Canelo has more hardware in terms of legacy. You know, I would choose Canelo coz he’s got more hardware. He’s got three of the four belts… And no one ever got mad for getting paid more. But I think a lot of people put emphasis on money when they’re fighting Canelo,” he responded. “But money is not like my number one reason why I love boxing. I’m passionate about the sport. Boxing’s done a lot of great things for me.”

“Makes More Sense”

While he has been eyeing an Alvarez rematch, it sure looks like Plant has a few other fights he wants to get to before it. “I think the Berlanga or the Charlo fight makes more sense. I think it’s more exciting for boxing, more exciting for the fans,” he said during the same interview. “Charlo, Berlanga, and then the other one after that, and then Canelo. Any three order, but those three. It can be any order.”
