As we head closer to the Netflix mega event headlined by the undisputed super middleweight title fight between Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez (63-2-2, 39 KOs) and Terence Crawford (41-0, 31 KOs), FightsATW called upon some celebrities to send in their picks on who will come out victorious.
Whether you call it the “Fight of the Century” or a “Superfight”, one thing is certain: this Netflix event is on track to be one of the biggest of the year. It should easily surpass Katie Taylor vs. Amanda Serrano 3, which did a little under 6 million live views in July.
With all of the interest in this fight by hardcore fans and casuals, this was the perfect time to get a few celebrities to give their take and explain how they see this fight playing out.
Canelo Alvarez vs Terence Crawford Predictions
Holt McCallany, Hollywood Actor (The Waterfront, Mission Impossible: Final Reckoning, The Iron Claw, Mindhunter): Crawford
My mom’s family was from Omaha, Nebraska. My little brother was a golden Gloves champ there. I’m going with my heart and not my head. I’m picking the best fighter our little town ever produced: the great Terence Crawford by split decision.
Rsonist (Heatmakerz), Multi-Platinum Producer (Joell Ortiz-W.A.R., IBorn-Born Again): Canelo
This is a hard one to pick because my heart says Crawford by decision but my boxing mind says Canelo by late stoppage. I don’t know if Crawford will gas out late in the fight carrying the extra weight. With Canelo, I don’t think he was up for the William Scull fight but he will be for this one. Giving a definitive pick, I will have to say Canelo by late stoppage with the referee being the one that puts a halt to the fight.
(Rsonist’s upcoming projects: Locksmith & The Heatmakerz “Wine & Circus” (9/16/25), Joell Ortiz “Love, Peace & Trauma” (9/19/25) and Keen Streetz & The Heatmakerz “Definition of Keen” (9/19/25).
Charles Malik Whitfield, Hollywood Actor/Director (Beauty in Black, The Bastard Sons, Still Here): Crawford
We’re about to see a very special fight. Crawford has been the type of fighter who has been avoided. We know he packs power in both hands, and his skills are a throwback. Canelo is a helluva fighter. If it were Canelo ten years ago, it would be a different fight. They are meeting at different times and phases in their life. Canelo has to be the bully, close the space, and get to work. On Saturday night, we are going to witness a special Crawford. Don’t be surprised if around the seventh or eighth round, Canelo takes a knee. Crawford by late stoppage. (Season 2 of Tyler Perry’s Beauty in Black is now available on Netflix.)
Victor Fields, Contemporary Jazz Vocalist: Crawford
One thing I know. Bud Crawford is “different”. Over the years, Crawford followers have watched him pick opponents apart. We’ve watched him figure things out, make adjustments and then exploit his opponent’s weaknesses in real time like a chess master. We know he’s street mean, fast with power and that he’s a vicious closer when given the opportunity. His move up to 168 lbs. is unprecedented. Historic. But we also know that he has been working with strength and conditioning coach Chet Fortune for a year. They added weight the right way. They built power, strength and endurance without sacrificing speed.
We know that Canelo is NOT the bigger man. That he also came up from the lighter weights. We know that speed and southpaws are Canelo’s kryptonite. We know that Bud has speed, accuracy, and he’s a natural right hander who is deadly as a “lefty”. Canelo is a great champion. He’s had some intense battles and it’s starting to show. In his last fights, he’s been showing signs of slowing down. Triple G called him a “one punch” fighter with diminished power. Signs are that Canelo may be getting a little battle-weary. Bottom Line: IQ rules, speed kills and the biggest strongest man doesn’t always win. Crawford by decision.

Kevin Interdonato, Actor/Director (Malicious, The Bastard Sons): Crawford
I have a gut feeling that Crawford is going to win by unanimous decision. I think Crawford is going to pick him apart. Crawford is too prepared and is coming in so confident. I can’t wait to see this fight.
Dj Scream, (Big Facts Podcast on Revolt TV, The Dj Scream Show on IHeart Radio): Canelo
This is the hardest fight I have ever had to pick. Obviously, I’m championing Crawford, but I got Canelo by split decision. That’s where my mind and my pocket are. I think Canelo is going to have a plan to go the distance. If it goes the distance, it favors him anyway. The only way Crawford is going to win is by knocking out Canelo and that is a lot easier said than done.
Bronze Nazareth, (Music Producer, Wu-Tang Alum): Crawford
This is a really tough one for me as I’m a big fan of both of them. I think Crawford is going to pull it out. I think he is going to pick him apart through the rounds. I know Canelo is a master, but there is a slight slowdown in him, and I think that is going to be the difference. Crawford is going to put him down in the eighth or ninth round.
(Bronze Nazareth recently dropped a collaboration album with Salute Da Kidd titled Time “Heals All Wounds” and another with Apollo Brown titled “Funeral for a Dream.”)
Matthew Raymond, Hollywood Actor, Writer & Comedian (Blue Moon, Black-ish, Twenties): Canelo
Personally, I am team Bud! However, I don’t believe he has fought anyone with the elusiveness, poise and power as Canelo so I can see this fight going the distance and the judges scoring it in favor of Canelo unless Crawford can successfully stop the counter and breakdown Canelo‘s defense! Either way, I think this will be an amazing fight that will end up in the judges hands.
Canelo Alvarez vs Terence Crawford Prediction Panel Results: 5-3 Crawford
Although the betting odds favor Canelo, the undisputed super middleweight champion, as a slight favorite in this fight, the panel is leaning towards a Crawford victory. I’m going to join them and say that Crawford will come out victorious via split decision, making the rematch the biggest event in 2026.
