Caroline Dubois Makes A Heartfelt Admission About Her Boxing Career

Caroline Dubois (10-0, 5 KOs) will not let sibling rivalry hinder her boxing career.

Dubois is currently gearing up to defend her WBC women’s lightweight title against Jessica Camara (13-4, 3 KOs) at Park Community Arena in Sheffield on 11 January 2025. Dubois, who was upgraded to full WBC women’s lightweight champion after Katie Taylor vacated the title, has not been on speaking terms with her older brother. In a recent interview, she opened up about paving the way for her boxing career on her own terms.

Talking to the Associated Press, Dubois spoke about her since going solo. Notably, she was being mentored and guided by her father, Stanley Dubois, until she ventured out on her own. “It was either that or I probably would have ended up stopping boxing and just be in a really bad mental place,” she said, “It was either that or I probably would have ended up stopping boxing and just be in a really bad mental place.”

She mentioned that she does not wish to live with regret or hold any grudges against anyone. Dubois added that she wanted to create her own path and recognition in the sport, which she has been working on.

Talking about her older brother, she revealed that they are not on speaking terms. “Daniel hasn’t come to any of my last four fights, and yet no one asks him that question. He’s not at this fight; he won’t be at the next fight,” she said when asked about her absence from the Wembley stadium for her brother’s heavyweight victory against Anthony Joshua.

“I Don’t Feel Like I Need Katie Taylor”

While she became a full WBC champion when Taylor vacated the throne, many felt she missed out by not fighting one of the biggest names in the division. Dubois, however, feels like she is better off not chasing a fight against the Irish pugilistic machine. “I don’t feel like I need Katie Taylor, and to be honest, she doesn’t need me right now, so it is what it is,” she said. “That’s not me trying to be disrespectful or anything, it’s just I would still be happy if our careers never crossed. It doesn’t really matter to me because I feel like I’m going to make my own legacy.”
