Chantelle Cameron vs. Katie Taylor 2: Preview & Prediction

The unified female super lightweight title rematch between champion Chantelle Cameron (18-0, 8 KOs) and Katie Taylor (22-1, 6 KOs) is here, and we’ve got a preview and prediction.

Cameron and Taylor first fought in May. It was Cameron who handed Taylor her first pro boxing loss despite being in enemy territory. The fight went the distance, and Cameron was awarded the majority decision win to stay unbeaten in the pro ranks and retain her undisputed gold.

During their first meeting, it was clear that Cameron had a size advantage over her opponent. Cameron utilized her reach effectively and pressured Taylor during the bout. Taylor’s efforts were certainly there in the fight, stealing some rounds with her jab and ability to win some exchanges when she turned the match into a brawl. Despite being able to keep things close, Taylor had difficulty with Cameron’s body punches and pressure.

Going into this rematch, many wonder if the 37-year-old Taylor will decide to call it a career depending on the fight’s outcome. She certainly has accomplished a lot going into her 24th pro boxing match. She’ll have the home crowd inside the 3Arena in Dublin, Ireland, behind her, but will it be enough?

Chantelle Cameron vs. Katie Taylor 2 Prediction

It’s quite clear that in order for Katie Taylor to get past Chantelle Cameron, she’ll need an answer for that pressure game. The problem is, I don’t believe Taylor has the size needed to be able to do that. She may have moments like she did in the first fight, but Cameron should’ve won by a wider margin than the scorecards suggested, especially that 95-95 score total.

Look for Cameron to impose her will from the start now that she knows what it’s like to share the ring with Taylor. Cameron will look for that left hook to the body and pierce through the guard of Taylor, who will hang in tough as she always does.

Taylor’s biggest issue here is the lack of punching power to give Cameron pause. “KT” has proven she can score some points when she brawls, but Cameron didn’t feel threatened by this in their first fight, and I find it hard to believe things will change now.

With that said, I’ve got Cameron winning by a wider margin this time.

Prediction: Chantelle Cameron, via unanimous decision
