We are just days away from one of the most anticipated rematches of 2025 as Chris Eubank Jr. (35-3, 25 KOs) will face Conor Benn (23-1, 14 KOs) in a rematch live from the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London, U.K., live on DAZN PPV.
The rivalry still exists between the two families, but this time, there’s a bit of respect between Eubank Jr. and Benn after their intense 12-round bout in April. Still, among the two fighters, it’s Benn who feels the need to prove himself and redeem his first career loss. Both men have something to gain and something to lose, so the question remains: are we about to witness the start of round 13, or will this turn into a completely different fight?
Can Chris Eubank Jr. Defeat The Scale And Conor Benn This Weekend?
In April, when Eubank Jr. and Benn met in the ring for the first time, it was 24 hours after the drama of the weigh-in ceremony. The contracted weight limit was 160 pounds, and although the smaller Benn made it easily (156.4 lbs.), it was the bigger Eubank Jr who struggled, coming in at 160.2 lbs. While Eubank Jr. already had a hard enough time making his weight, he did not attempt to lose any more of it and accepted the $500,000 fine. Additionally, neither fighter could weigh more than 170 pounds on the morning of the fight. This was especially tough for Eubank Jr., who typically rehydrates to over 170 pounds. He made the rehydration weight limit, but fans wondered if it would affect his performance.
On fight night, Eubank Jr appeared fine, but early on, he was dry and it took him a few rounds not only to get a good sweat going but also to warm up. This gave Benn the advantage and the opportunity to jump on Eubank Jr early and take advantage of the situation. This is what boxing writer Steve Kim would call “weaponizing the weigh-in.” It mostly worked for Benn, but reality settled in, and him being the smaller man began to show, making things more competitive and turning the fight into a war.
The fight will once again take place at the 160-pound weight limit, with a ten-pound maximum rehydration allowed the morning of the fight. Can Eubank Jr. overcome the weight challenge this time? Either way, how does he win? Eubank needs to be more active with his left jab from outside mid-range. At times, Eubank Jr. should come inside, hold, and lean on Benn. Additionally, Eubank Jr. should target Benn’s body to slow him down, helping him land that long overhand right. Since Benn likes to lunge in, Eubank Jr. can set him up for a big counter shot that could end the fight. Given Benn’s heart and determination, it will take a lot to stop him, so Eubank Jr. must be smart, box well, and secure the decision victory.
Conor Benn Has To Go All In
For Benn, this fight means everything. Where he stands in terms of a weight class or competing for a title in the future isn’t on his mind. He just wants to avenge his loss but, more importantly, get the win for the Benn family. He’s had to overcome everything that came with testing positive for PEDs (Performance Enhancing Drugs), which he was later cleared of by the BBBoC (British Boxing Board of Control). Then he chose to take on Eubank Jr, even though two weight classes separate them. Benn showed a lot of heart, grit, and determination in April, but it just wasn’t enough. Now, he gets another shot at Eubank Jr and hopes to come out with his hand raised. But how does Benn make things different this time around?

Benn must use his left jab to work his way in, not just lunging in. Also, in spots, the smaller but faster Benn should punch with Eubank Jr, as the latter will be slower when bringing his hands back. Benn must make Eubank Jr empty the tank early so he can catch him fatigued later in the fight. If Benn can zap Eubank Jr’s energy early, he could be vulnerable during the championship rounds, giving Benn the best opportunity to stop him. It’s going to be a tough task, but if there is anyone who can do it, Benn is the fighter who can if he goes about it the right way.
