There is no denying that the Chris Eubank Jr. (35-3, 25 KOs) vs. Conor Benn (23-1, 14 KOs) showdown at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London brought in the views, not only from British boxing fans but from aficionados from across the globe. The fight saw the duo put generational rivalry to the test in a sensational battle that saw Eubank Jr win via decision. Matchroom boss Eddie Hearn recently made a rather sizable claim about the PPV buys, but it looks like the official numbers tell a different story.

Talking to Ariel Helwani, Hearn revealed that there were over a million PPV buys for the fight,
“It will take a while to trickle it down. Over a million worldwide. But DAZN did extremely well. SkySports is obviously a great platform as well,” he said. “The rematch is on another level.”

According to Ring Magazine, the fight generated around 620,000 PPV buys, with each PPV costing $25.99 (in the US). While the numbers aren’t as high as Hearn had claimed, it is still a huge number for a PPV, with piracy at an all-time high.
“His Head Looks Like A Blown-Up Football”
The fight also saw Eubank Jr. take a few major hits, especially to his head. His father, former champion Chris Eubank, recently opened up about the seriousness and intensity of his son’s injuries.
“We were in the ambulance; the sirens, the horns are beeping; the chaos,” he said while talking on his YouTube channel, Call Chris Eubank. “My son Junior is very proud. His head looks like a blown-up football almost twice the size, and he’ll never let you see that because he’s proud.” Eubank highlighted that his son is touch and go and that they’re waiting for the CT scans to know the extent of his injuries.
“He suffered mostly in the hospital because of dehydration even though the beating was severe, and that’s why he was in such discomfort for 24, 30 hours,” he said, “I don’t want my son to have to go through that again. He doesn’t know that his life was in the balance neither does he care.”
