According to Chuck Liddell, the Mike Tyson (50-6-2, 44 KOs) vs. Jake Paul (10-1, 7 KOs) showdown will potentially be a “dangerous” one.
‘The Baddest Man on the Planet’ is gearing up for his controversial yet anticipated fight against ‘The Problem Child.’ While the bout was initially set to take place at the AT&T Arena in Arlington on July 20, it had to be rescheduled after Tyson suffered a medical emergency aboard a plane. Now, with a new date (barely weeks away) and the same venue awaiting them, the former UFC Light Heavyweight Champion opened up about his concerns about the fight.
Liddell was recently a guest on the JAXXON Podcast with his former nemesis, Quinton “Rampage” Jackson, who co-hosted the show with Bear Degidio. In conversation, he turned his attention towards Tyson’s upcoming fight. “Is it a real fight? I don’t know. If it’s a real fight, that’s a dangerous fight. Mike still hits hard. It’s the last thing you lose, and Paul is kind of a get-in-there-and-exchange guy. It doesn’t seem like he’s outpointing you. He likes to get in there and bang a little,” he said.
Liddell further went on to call the fight a “sprint,” owing to it consisting of eight two-minute rounds. However, he also added that it would be a better option due to Tyson’s age. Moreover, he even gave Paul some advice.
“It should probably be his strategy to try to get him tired, but if you’re in there pushing him, you’re taking shots,” he said.
“This Is The Strongest I’ve Ever Seen You”
On the other hand, Tyson has undoubtedly impressed many from the boxing fraternity by stepping inside the ring at his age. In fact, he certainly left boxing legend Muhammad Ali’s iconic manager, Gene Kilroy, in awe for being the absolute specimen that he is.
“This is the strongest I’ve ever seen you, the strongest I’ve ever seen you, and I’ve known you since you were 13 years old. I think this is so amazing; this impressed the sh*t out of me,” he said while visiting Tyson during his training camp. “Nothing impresses me. You know what? I’m gonna tell you the truth; I don’t lie. I was worried about him traveling here, traveling there. I can sleep now at night. This is great.”
