Zuffa Boxing is gradually gaining momentum, and their latest signing is as significant as the one they announced a few weeks ago.
Welterweight contender Conor Benn (24-1, 14 KOs) is the latest to sign with Zuffa Boxing, as announced by Dana White on Friday afternoon. It comes as a surprise, considering Benn had been signed with Eddie Hearn and Matchroom Boxing for ten years. Nonetheless, boxing is a business, and more than likely, Benn weighed his options and ultimately decided to go with Zuffa Boxing.
“I’m filled with excitement and hunger for what’s ahead with Zuffa Boxing,” said Benn. “I want the legacy fights, the biggest nights, the biggest stages. I fear no man at any weight, and I’m ready to give the fans the fights they’ve been calling for. I’m in my prime, and together we have bold, ambitious plans.”
White is clearly excited about this signing because it not only gives Zuffa Boxing a major name in the sport but also one that holds influence in the U.K. “Conor Benn is an absolute beast and a superstar,” said UFC President and CEO Dana White. “He shows up every time and destroys people, and now some of the best fighters in the world are calling him out. He’s ready for a world title next and I can’t wait to see him compete in Zuffa Boxing. He’s going to be a huge addition to a growing stable of very talented boxers.”
Zuffa Boxing will announce Benn’s next fight in the coming weeks, and this might be when they take their show on the road to expand the Meta Apex to accommodate more than a thousand fans versus the few hundred that it currently seats. It’ll be interesting to see who else Zuffa Boxing signs to strengthen their roster.
