Conor Benn vs. Peter Dobson: Preview & Prediction

The road to boxing glory for Conor Benn has taken some twists and turns despite being undefeated. Under the microscope for allegedly using a banned substance, Benn has maintained his innocence and hopes to move forward and eventually become a world champion. This Saturday, Benn will step inside the ring to meet Peter Dobson in another fight designed to keep Benn active on his road to bigger attractions.

Dobson plans to spoil the party. Also undefeated with a record of 16-0, Dobson is in for the biggest fight of his pro boxing career. It’ll be Dobson’s first outing since June 2022. Despite his record, Dobson was brought in to serve as a stepping stone for Benn.

Can he shock the boxing world?

Conor Benn vs. Peter Dobson preview and prediction

Benn has been in Dobson’s shoes in terms of inactivity. He was able to shake off any ring rust he may have had against Rodolfo Orozco back in September 2023. Before the bout, Benn hadn’t competed in over a year but was not afraid to throw leather against the power puncher, taking a unanimous decision. Benn landed some clean shots in that fight, but Orozco had quite the chin on him.

Dobson likes to be patient and look for counters. He packs some power in his right hand and has some solid uppercuts. Against Benn, however, I believe he is outmatched. I believe Benn will move in and out much faster than Dobson is used to with his previous opponents. Benn also packs the most punching power of any of Dobson’s opposition.

I’m also not feeling too great about Dobson’s time away from the ring. Some fighters can have long layoffs and return to form right away, but for others, such as Deontay Wilder in his late 2023 loss to Joseph Parker, it becomes costly.

Dobson’s chin will be tested here, and I think with the ring rust now gone, Benn will close the show before the final bell.

Prediction: Conor Benn via TKO
