Conor McGregor Gives A Disappointing Update on His Fight with Logan Paul

Conor McGregor (22-6, 19 KOs) vs. Logan Paul (1-1) might never become a reality.

Late December, ‘Notorious’ revealed that he was in preliminary talks with India’s wealthiest family, the Ambanis, for an exhibition showdown against Paul in the country. While the matchup was rather odd, it was quick to create a buzz among combat sports aficionados, with many anticipating an iconic return for the former UFC champ. However, McGregor put out these flames of hope with a dismaying update on the status of his potential fight against Paul.

McGregor was recently in an interview with The Schmo for ‘The Schmo and The Pro’. In conversation, he made the rather disappointing admission that Paul vs. McGregor might just not become a reality. “The offer was there on the table, in writing. Both athletes will say, he’s not a fighter, but whatever, both athletes under the TKO banner. UFC and WWE both rising up. The stock price of TKO Holding Group, through the roof,” he said.

McGregor further mentioned that a new market had opened up in India. The fight, or “the glorified spar,” as McGregor would like to put it, was one of the best decisions that could have been made business-wise. There were rumors abuzz that the showdown was even set to be a grand one, fetching the fighter’s purses of $250 million.

However, the UFC was not interested in doing so.

“This waiting period that we find ourselves in before I can get back to the octagon. It made perfect sense on the calendar to go ahead with it. The UFC weren’t into it,” he added. “I’m not sure the WWE, what their interest was. I just knew the UFC weren’t into it.”

“He Didn’t Say Anything”

McGregor also did not shy away from showing his displeasure at Paul’s silence. He stated that the YouTuber turned WWE star remained a mute spectator while he ran around trying to make the fight a reality.

“Logan just kept quiet. He didn’t say anything,” he said during the same interview. “I was like, ‘Mate, you need to say something. You need to open your fucking mouth.’ I wasn’t talking to him directly. He put up this video and edited it like I had to send him a voice note. I was talking to the fucking crowd that was the Ambani royal family of India.”
