Brisbane, Australia — Tasman Fighters, in collaboration with Matchroom Boxing, Goldstar Promotions, and Riyadh Season, is thrilled to announce IBF #2 world-ranked Light Heavyweight, Conor Wallace 14-1 (10 KO), will step into the ring with South African Super Middleweight champion Asemahle “The Predator” Wellem 7-0-1 (3 KO) in a 10-round contest on December 11, 2024, at the iconic Fortitude Music Hall in Brisbane.
The highly anticipated bout, for the WBA Oceania Light Heavyweight title marks a pivotal moment for both fighters. Fresh from his victory over top contender Jerome Pampellone, Wallace is setting his sights on global dominance. Meanwhile, Wellem is eager to make a powerful statement by challenging the hard-hitting Irishman.
Mick Francis, the promoter for Tasman Fighters, expressed his excitement, saying, “There’s nothing quite like the atmosphere at Fortitude Music Hall when Conor Wallace fights. His Irish fans travel far and wide, turning every fight night into an electric spectacle. Wallace himself is eager for the bout, stating, “I’m ready for a world title shot, but I’m not looking past Wellem. He’s dangerous, and I don’t see this fight going the distance.”
Wellem, known for his powerful approach in the ring, is prepared to seize the moment, saying, “This is the opportunity I’ve been waiting for. Conor Wallace won’t see the final bell. His team have made a big mistake and his world title dreams are going to be ended before they’ve began.”
The excitement doesn’t stop there. In the co-main event, WBO #5 ranked heavyweight Justis Huni will make his return to the ring to face Argentina’s Leandro Robutti over 8 rounds. “I’m excited to be back,” Huni shared. “I’m ready to build more momentum with each fight.” Francis emphasized the importance of Huni’s activity in the ring, adding, “We need Justis to stay active and keep honing his skills. An active boxer is a happy boxer.”
Adding even more star power to the card, Austin “Sugar Free” Aokuso, a bright light heavyweight prospect, will face the rugged former Australian champion Lucas Miller over eight rounds, promising fans another thrilling clash.
