Cruiserweight Contender Ryan Rozicki Signs A Multi-Fight Deal With Zuffa Boxing

Ring Magazine and Zuffa Boxing cruiserweight champion Jai Opetaia now has two potential opponents for his next title defense. After announcing the signing of Chris Billam-Smith earlier in the week, Zuffa announced today that they have signed the Ring Magazine number five-ranked cruiserweight Ryan Rozicki (21-1-1, 20 KOs) to a multi-fight deal.

Rozicki’s debut is scheduled to be announced soon, and he had this to say, according to the press release from Zuffa Boxing.

I’m excited for this next chapter and the opportunity to be part of what Zuffa is building. My team has done an incredible job getting me to this point and making sure everything is in place for me to succeed at the highest level. This is a big platform, and I’m ready to get to work and make a statement.”

There has been plenty of talk about Opetaia after he was stripped of his IBF title and came up on two years without fighting a top-five Ring Magazine-ranked contender. It appears that Zuffa will look to satisfy that requirement by having Opetaia fight either Billam-Smith or Rozicki. For Zuffa, these two signings this week were significant in keeping Opetaia busy with top contenders in the division before figuring out how to face the other champions in the division.
