It was a typical Tuesday night in Irvine, CA, as United Wrestling Network (UWN) hosted a card inside the Improv, where they regularly have events filled by wrestling fans in the local area. This show was different in a good way as the headliner featured UWN heavyweight champion Danny Limelight, who defended his title against Ace Austin in a match that could very well be a nominee for Match of the Year.
The Improv in Irvine is a perfect setting for a wrestling event as it has tables, booths, and a full menu to order food and beverages. There isn’t a bad seat in the venue, and the sound bounces off well from the walls. As advertised, the card began right at 7:30 pm, and the action quickly followed. The matches were entertaining, and one of the promos that really got everyone excited was when Limelight and veteran Scorpio Sky shared the ring. They teased a potential match in the future, and it left a huge level of excitement among the crowd in attendance.

Danny Limelight vs. Ace Austin Tore The House Down
Everyone at the Improv eagerly awaited the main event, and when both wrestlers entered the ring, the energy in the room could not be ignored. The first few minutes were slow and only for the small percentage of hardcore wrestling fans who would appreciate such things. There were a lot of technical wrestling moves that came from both Limelight and Austin, but for someone who has been watching wrestling for as long as I have, it was much appreciated. There were armbars, a test of strength move, beautifully executed drop kicks, and arm drags.
Then, after showing off their technical side, Austin took over the match and began working on Limelight’s knee. He dominated and used almost every move you can think of to work on Limelight’s knee and even pulled out some creative new techniques that fans in attendance hadn’t seen before. Once Limelight was able to turn the tables and get back into the driver’s seat, this is when the match went up another level. It was Limelight, then Austin back and forth, and the crowd went wild. Limelight would finally get the upper hand, hit his finisher and was able to pin Austin for the three count and retain his UWN heavyweight title.
The match received a loud ovation, with fans standing on their feet applauding. On a typical Tuesday night, Limelight and Austin left the fans wanting more but fully satisfied that they got what they paid for, which isn’t always the case with wrestling events.
UWN Needs To Book Danny Limelight vs. Scorpio Sky Next
Took my brother-in-law to see his first wrestling show which was a @unitedwrestling card headlined by @DannyLimeLight vs. @The_Ace_Austin . As usual, Danny had the safety off on the mic. Lol. pic.twitter.com/5h5kpKL0xk

Although Scorpio Sky was in action earlier in the night, when he and Limelight shared the ring during their promo, you could almost envision how a match between the two would go. It’s the perfect matchup between a proven veteran from yesteryears against the up-and-coming brash world champion who has been carrying the company for the last few years. The buildup would be great and there is no way the match doesn’t deliver. It’s the obvious main event, so let’s see if the UWN books it or if they ignore a potential classic.
(Editor’s note:The match between Danny Limelight and Ace Austin should be available on the United Wrestling Network YouTube Page in the coming weeks.)
