Matchroom Boxing will be busy on Saturday as they first host a fight card from the Sheffield Arena in the U.K., as heavyweights Dave Allen and Arslanbek Makhmudov will headline the card, which streams live on DAZN.
Allen (24-7-2, 19 KOs), who is coming off a fifth-round TKO over Johnny Fisher in their May rematch, has gained somewhat of a cult following with his weigh-in antics (he wore Speedo underwear with his face all over them) and overall fun personality. Allen showed real grit against Fisher, which makes this fight against Makhmudov even more interesting.
On the other hand, the 36-year-old Makhmudov (20-2, 19 KOs) has gone 2-2 in his last four fights. He earned a first-round TKO in June over Ricardo Brown, setting up this fight with Allen. Makhmudov is under immense pressure to perform, as one more devastating loss could potentially lead to him having to consider retiring from boxing.
