David Benavidez Sees Himself ‘Systemically Breaking Down’ David Morrell

David Benavidez (29-0, 24 KOs) is planning to decimate David Morrell (11-0, 9 KOs), albeit with a targeted plan of action.

In a day, ‘The Mexican Monster’ will face the Southpaw from Santa Clara at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. As the hours draw closer, both fighters have declared war on each other. In fact, Benavidez sees himself bringing in a lot more smoke than his opponent can handle.

Talking to Fight Hype, he shared his plan of action for fight night.

“I see myself systematically breaking him down. I think I’m just going to overwhelm him with punches. My punches in bunches is unlike anybody else in the sport. I’m the #2 most accurate puncher in the sport. I don’t really get hit that much. I don’t know why people think I don’t have defense,” he said.

He revealed that major names in the sport have had little to no success in bringing the heat while facing him. Benavidez added that he was proficient in bringing out a sense of realization about his skillset in his opponents. He hopes to recreate the same magic against Morrell.

“But if I do get put in a position where it’s a good, competitive fight, I’m ready to go to war. This is what I’m here for. Nothing is guaranteed, there’s no easy fights here. Nothing is guaranteed, but I’m ready to put my heart and soul in the ring and I’m ready to put it all in the ring and beat David Morrell, whatever it may take,” he said.

“We Get A War”

There is no denying that the boxing community is excited about the upcoming showdown and many are certain that they’ll get to witness an explosive spectacle. Talking to YSM Sports media, IBF welterweight titleholder Jaron Ennis revealed that he was expecting a war.

“I think 50-50 or 60-40. It’s going to be a barnburner from the rip. They don’t like each other. So, we get a war from round one to whenever it ends. I say Benavidez,” he said. While he likes Morrell’s pugilistic skillset, Ennis believes that Benavidez’s experience gives him an edge in the fight.

“It’s a possibility. It could be. Morrell is the boxer, but I don’t know. I guess it could favor Benavidez. It’s going to make him more angrier and more hungrier,” he said.
