Although there was little doubt it would get done, sources have told FightsATW that Golden Boy Promotions has signed a non-exclusive extension with DAZN that will be officially announced in the coming days. The length of the deal and the annual budget were details not released at this time.
When the calendar turned to 2026, Golden Boy’s deal had expired, but they were still collaborating with DAZN on a show-by-show basis. Golden Boy hosted the card headlined by Raul Curiel in January, followed by last weekend’s Arnold Barboza Jr. vs. Kenneth Sims Jr. event in Anaheim. Days after that show, it was announced that Top Rank signed a new multi-year distribution deal with DAZN, raising questions about whether Golden Boy’s future with the streaming service would be in jeopardy.
Then, on Friday, sources revealed that the Golden Boy extension is indeed finalized and that DAZN will have most major promoters under its umbrella, with the exception of Premier Boxing Champions (PBC). Sources also revealed that the deal is non-exclusive, which means more involvement with other cards, such as the recently announced DAZN involvement for the Cinco de Mayo PPV headlined by David Benavidez vs. Gilberto “Zurdo” Ramirez.
When that announcement (Benavidez vs. Zurdo on DAZN PPV) was made on Tuesday, it created some positive momentum toward Golden Boy signing the extension with DAZN. The lawsuit between Golden Boy and Vergil Ortiz Jr. had delayed the deal, but now it seems the relationship between Golden Boy and DAZN is at a point where they can finalize it.
With Top Rank and now Golden Boy signing non-exclusive deals, fights with other promotions are possible, which wasn’t the case during the HBO/Showtime era. DAZN has this new Ultimate plan, an enhancement to the basic DAZN subscription, and if they want to continue delivering at least one PPV per month to justify the Ultimate subscription, they almost had to do these non-exclusive deals with Top Rank and Golden Boy to deliver on their promise to consumers.
Now that Golden Boy and Top Rank’s deals are finalized, boxing can focus on making the biggest fights happen without industry politics getting in the way.
