Devin Haney Slams Ryan Garcia for ‘BS Hair Test’

The troubles show no sign of ending for Ryan Garcia (25-1, 20 KOs) after his win against Devin Haney (31-1, 15 KOs). Post a positive test on his A-sample, his recent drug test results have only added to the roaring flames. The lab results on his B-sample, collected for his fight, came back testing possible for the same banned substance Ostarine. In response, Garcia’s promoter, Golden Boy Promotions, released a statement about his “hair and nail samples” testing negative. This, however, has not gone down well with Haney, who made it clear that he has no time for the “BS.”

“The fact that Ostarine wasn’t present in Ryan’s hair and nail samples. Combined with his multiple negative tests in the run-up to his victory over Devin Haney, conclusive prove that he received no benefit from any PED,” Golden Boy wrote in their statement.

Moreover, the promotional company also blamed the positive results on supplement contamination. Garcia had also previously blamed an Ashwagandha root supplement for Ostarine contamination.

On the other hand, Haney has a hard time believing their claims.

“Ryan & his team knew he would test positive, that’s why they did a BS “hair test” on their own, which who really he knows if they did it,” he wrote on X. Haney’s team has filed a letter with the commission requesting that Garcia be disqualified because of the positive drug test, which, in turn, could turn the loss into a win.

“Mockery of The Sport”

It sure looks like the positive drug test has infuriated the Haney household as a whole. In an exclusive interview with TMZ Sports, Haney’s father, Bill Haney, opened up about why he believes that Garcia should be banned for life. The older Haney accused Garcia of cheating and revealed that the best plan of action would be to get him out of the sport.

“You see me with my kids. I don’t know what to tell them. The Haneys, we’re fair. We believe in hard work, and I feel undermined. For him to sign up to do this and now to make a mockery of the sport, you know, it’s just terrible,” he said.

Haney also added that he does not wish to see a rematch between Garcia and his son.
