Did Frank Warren Confirm a November Showdown for Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua?

The delay behind the signing for the Tyson Fury (36-2-1, 25 KOs) vs Anthony Joshua (30-4, 27 KOs) showdown has left many annoyed. And no one is as annoyed as promoter Frank Warren, who has only one thing to say to Joshua: ‘get on with it’.

Talking at a recent media roundtable, Warren hinted at a November fight date for the showdown.

“There is still plenty of time. The fighters will just need to get into training some time in September, so that is what will happen in early September. They will be ticking over at the moment, I’m sure. I can only speak for Tyson, but he is with his family,” he said. “As soon as the date is announced, he will get down to the serious business and bring in sparring partners and prepare for the fight. I believe the fight will go on in November.”

The delay behind Joshua vs. Fury is now much more specific; the fight itself is agreed, but the sides are fighting over where and under what commercial conditions it will take place. Joshua and Fury have signed contracts for a late-2026 fight, and both have now completed their scheduled tune-up bouts, so the original concern that one could lose and derail the matchup is gone.

The fight is now reportedly agreed upon, and contracts are signed, with November 2026 as the intended window, but there is still a major dispute over the venue. Joshua and Eddie Hearn want the fight in the UK, likely Wembley, while Turki Alalshikh and Netflix are pushing for a U.S. event, potentially Madison Square Garden, to maximize the American audience.

“He has got plenty of time to get ready. He has had two fights in the last seven months. Jake Paul and Prenga, they are the two fights he has had, and he is doing a training camp with Usyk,” said Warren. “So what does he do if he doesn’t fight? He will carry on training, training and training and he will be getting older as will Tyson, so what is the point? Get on with it.”

“He Thinks He Can Hurt Him”

Warren also believes that Joshua has the misconception that he is the ‘better’ fighter, a belief that he feels will be swept away on fight night.

“Coming forward, he throws big punches, and if he thinks he can catch Tyson and if he thinks he can hurt him, then he will fancy the fight. I think he thinks he can hurt him, but the problem he has got for himself is that he gets caught and he goes over,” he said during the same conversation while giving an example of Joshua’s recent fight. “Looking at the Prenga fight, if that had been Tyson in there, that would have been all over.”
