Dillian Whyte Wants To Avenge Losses As The Moses Itauma Fight Inches Closer

Dillian Whyte (31-3, 21 KOs) is currently gearing up to return to the ring with a showdown against the 20-year-old boxing phenom, Moses Itauma (12-0, 10 KOs) on Saturday. Meanwhile, it sure looks like the three losses of his career still remain as a sore reminder in his heart. And now with the fight against his far younger opponent right around the corner, he revealed that he has “nothing to lose” after life kicked him “in the b*lls”.

Talking at the recent Grand Arrivals, Whyte expressed his excitement to return to the ring and also highlighted his mindset ahead of the fight and his plans after.

“It’s good to be back. I’m up against it, but it’s a good place to be. I haven’t got anything to lose, so it’s good to be in this position. I’ve got nothing to prove to myself,” he said.

Whyte stated that he is delighted to see the roads that he has crossed and the journey he has undertaken to reach the level he is at. Moreover, he was also thankful for his family and for being “one of the best fighters in the world.”

However, the three losses of his career have undoubtedly left unhealed wounds. And he revealed that he would like to avenge his losses and fight for a world title again.

“Sometimes, it’s unbelievable. I’d love to get a chance to avenge my two defeats, and I’d love to fight for a world title again. I don’t think I did myself justice last time,” he said. “Sometimes, you’re there but not really there, and I think that’s what happened in the Fury fight. When you’re a family man, sometimes life kicks you in the b*lls at the wrong time.”

“The Man Is Ridiculous”

Itauma, on the other hand, has a host of supporters, especially for his ring IQ and an iron-fisted skillset to match. Former world champion, Darren Barker, commended Itauma for his performances, especially against Demsey McKean and Mike Balogun, albeit with a warning about Whyte.

“We saw McKean in against Filip Hrogivc, and it took him twelve rounds to get the job done. The man is ridiculous. The way he dispatches his opponents, it’s done with so much intelligence, speed, accuracy, and ease. It’s all in a day’s work,”he said. Notably, Itauma beat McKean via a first-round TKO (under 2 minutes).

“But he’s in there with a guy who goes in with a lot of pride. We’ve seen Dillian Whyte. He’s trimmed down. He’s taking this very, very seriously. I think he’s annoyed, and I don’t mind an annoyed Dillian Whyte going into this fight. I think he’s got to grab this fight by the scruff of the neck and show him who’s boss.”
