Dmitry Bivol Hopes To ‘Be Better’ During the Artur Beterbiev Rematch

Dmitry Bivol (23-1, 12 KOs) is prepared to push himself to the limits during the rematch against Artur Beterbiev (21-0, 20 KOs).

In a few days, the former WBA light heavyweight champion will test his mettle once again for the undisputed crown in a highly anticipated showdown against the pugilistic powerhouse from Khasavyurt. While confident in his preparation ahead of the rematch, Bivol is also vary about not repeating the mistakes from their last fight.

Talking to FightHubTV at their recent grand arrivals, he opened up about his plans to avenge his loss and his quest to perform better than the last time.

“I’m expecting very good fight, not less interesting than first fight, and I believe in my skills. I hope I will do all my best and I will be better than last time,” he said. “I think it will be more action. More active and actions.”

The first fight between the duo in October saw Bivol lose his title and his quest for the undisputed throne via decision. In fact, Bivol was even noted as saying that he should’ve boxed with “more quality.” And now with the rematch around the corner, he is leaving no stone unturned in ensuring that he doesn’t make the same mistake.

Beterbiev has gained notoriety in boxing for the raw power he exudes with his punches. However, according to Bivol, the Montreal native is not the hardest puncher he has faced.

“Of course, he has very hard punches without putting any effort,” Bivol said while giving due credit to his opponent. But he quickly added, “No, I got harder punches, but the people also put more effort than him…You know, Pascal also is very sharp punches. Joe Smith is also heavy puncher, you know, like slow, heavy. Canelo also is hard puncher, but he’s putting more effort than Beterbiev.”
