Life was “tasteless” for Dmitry Bivol (23-1, 12 KOs) after his loss to Artur Beterbiev (21-0, 20 KOs).
Saturday night will see Bivol on a quest for redemption as he looks to reclaim his title and potentially be crowned the new undisputed champion. While he is confident in his skillset as fight night inches closer, he has not forgotten his first fight against the Montreal-based pugilistic maestro. Talking to reporters, he opened up about the emotional rollercoaster that he went through following his loss to Beterbiev during the first fight.

“It was a tasteless life. No emotions, no good emotions. Not enjoying the food which you want to enjoy,” Bivol said. “Generally, you don’t enjoy the life after the loss. But then you start finding some good stuff in this life and enjoying the food, enjoying the company, to see people.”
He highlighted that during the first few days following his loss, he was not in the mindset to meet or interact with a lot of people. Moreover, the fact that it was the first loss of his professional career made it a far more devastating affair.

However, Bivol revealed that his mindset changed when the possibility of a rematch came to light. With a successful training camp and a chance for redemption at hand, he is back to his old self. In fact, Bivol is confident that he will not let the opportunity go to waste.
“It was a short time when I didn’t like life. But then I switched emotions, and I started to enjoy the life. I have another chance. Not too many people have another chance. It’s great that I have another chance,” he said. “People like the fight which they saw the first time and they want to see it again, see me in the ring again. It’s good; I have to work for it.”

“It’s Toughest Fight”
For his opponent, Beterbiev, the Bivol fight was his toughest one yet. However, he highlighted that he will be just as driven and excited as the first fight as he plans on keeping his belts and the undisputed title.
“That time I want to grab all belts, now I want to defend them,” he said. “If you compare like, yeah, went to decision, yes, you can say it’s toughest fight. But it’s a little bit different. I think in my boxing career, I faced more strong guys but it’s different. But you can say it’s toughest fight.”
