Duarte vs Madueno Fight Results: Duarte Scores Crushing 7th Rd TKO (Video)

Junior welterweight contender Oscar Duarte (29-2-1, 23 KOs) punched his ticket, literally, to a big fight with an excellent performance resulting in a seventh-round TKO over Miguel Madueno (31-4, 28 KOs) on DAZN in Anaheim, CA.

Madueno was the more active fighter in the first round, but Duarte landed some sharp overhand rights, which quickly got Madueno’s attention. Duarte was gauging distance and Madueno’s power throughout the round. An all-action brawl broke out in the second round as Duarte increased his punch output, and Madueno was not afraid to retaliate. The fight quickly went to the inside, and both fighters began to tee off on each other.

In the third round, Duarte’s pressure began to be part of the fight and after a left hook low blow that the referee did not call low, Madueno was buzzed and had a hard time recovering. Duarte kept the pressure with his high work rate as he kept working to the body of Madueno. Duarte continued to apply a ton of pressure, and in the fourth round, he landed a left hook that rocked Madueno. Duarte then tried to flurry his way to a stoppage or knockdown, but Madueno survived the round.

Round five was an all-action round. Duarte was throwing bombs, and Madueno took them all and returned with big left uppercuts and hooks. A cut opened up on the left eyebrow of Madueno, which came from a straight right from Duarte. No one knows how Madueno was able to not get stopped after taking all of those hard shots. Although round six was more of the same, in the seventh round, Duarte landed a torpedo overhand right that nearly folded Madueno. Somehow, he was able to stay on his feet but staggered to the ropes. It’s there that Duarte threw about ten consecutive punches, forcing the referee to jump in and stop the fight.

Super middleweight contender Darius “DFG” Fulghum (14-0, 12 KOs) scored a fourth-round TKO victory over Winfred Harris Jr. (22-3-2, 10 KOs) in what could only be described as “one-way traffic.” DFG wasted no time in the first round with his overhand right, and when he landed it, he hurt Harris. It wasn’t until the second round that DFG would score his first knockdown of the fight, which was created by a straight right hand led by a left hook. The third round was more of the same, as Harris was already mentally beaten and had nothing for DFG. In the fourth round, DFG put even more pressure, and the referee quickly stopped the fight as Harris was not responding well to the punches received.

Ricardo Sandoval Impresses With A Unanimous Decision Victory

Ricardo Sandoval (25-2, 18 KOs) had a tough opponent in Saleto Henderson (10-1, 7 KOs), but he was able to pass the test and earn a unanimous decision. The three judges saw this one: 98-92, 100-90 x 2.

Although Henderson was tough to catch early on in the fight, Sandoval’s dedication to the body attack slowed Henderson down dramatically in the second half of the fight. Henderson did slip some shots in that made Sandoval think twice about coming in, but he could not capitalize on those moments throughout the fight. Sandoval showed a ton of patience and precision throughout the ten-round fight.

Kenneth Sims Jr. Earns A Not So Exciting Decision Victory

Kenneth Sims Jr. (22-2-1, 8 KOs) earned a unanimous decision over Kendo Castaneda (21-8, 9 KOs) as the judges saw this one 98-92, 99-91 x2 for Sims.

It was a tale of two halves. Sims was dominant in rounds 1-5 with his body shots and had Castaneda hurt quite a few times. Castaneda was the more aggressive fighter in the second half of the fight and landed more eye-catching shots. Sims could have applied more pressure earlier in the fight and even stopped Castaneda, but not doing so allowed his opponent to stay in the fight. With this victory, Sims now looks to revisit the fight with Oscar Duarte later this year.

Joel Iriarte Makes Quick Work of Another Opponent

Welterweight prospect Joel Iriarte (6-0, 6 KOs) wasted no time stopping Darel Harris (19-24-2, 14 KOs) in the DAZN opener. Iriarte scored a knockdown in the first round from a left hook to the top of the head and scored one in the second round with a left uppercut. Harris did not want to be in there, so the referee stopped the fight after the second round.
