Edgar Berlanga Eyes A Jaime Munguia or Jermall Charlo Fight

Edgar Berlanga (22-1, 17 KOs) has his eyes set on his future fights, and he’s not taking any replacements.

Berlanga is fresh off an unsuccessful super middleweight title run against pound-for-pound king Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez(62-2-2, 39 KOs). While there have been talks about his potential fights after he publicly locked horns with Caleb Plant(23-2, 14 KOs) and David Morrell (11-0, 9 KOs), it looks like he has a few other plans up his sleeve.

“F*ck Caleb Plant. Morrell, f*ck Morrell too. Munguia is the guy, and Charlo, too,” he said while talking to reporters. Munguia recently defended his WBC super middleweight title against Erik Bazinyan (32-1-1, 23 KOs), which undoubtedly puts him in a coveted position. However, Jermall Charlo (33-0. 22 KOs) last fight was almost a year back.

Meanwhile, Berlanga also mentioned that Plant knows that he is a “cash cow,” which, in turn, makes him a perfectly viable opponent.“Listen, I’m the cash cow now, and Plant knows it. He said it. ‘Edgar is the only one right now at 168 that we can make the bag.’ So, I’m the bag, do you hear me? I’m the next PPV star,” he added.

“I Know We Can Get That Rematch”

Berlanga recently fought Alvarez at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. At the end of the 12 rounds, Canelo was declared the winner by decision. Talking to Sways Universe, he also opened up about his plans to have a rematch against the Guadalajaran.

“I know we can get that rematch in a year and a half, and I know for a fact that I can beat him for sure,” he said. Berlanga further stated that his fight against Alvarez was his first world title fight, which was a unification fight. However, it sure looks like Munguia is the fighter that he has his eyes on.

“Right now, Caleb Plant is on the radar, but right now, I want Munguia. That fight with PPV numbers and the gate. He’s a big draw in Mexico. You saw me and Canelo. We just did history. Me and Munguia would do the same thing,” he said. “After I beat him, I want that rematch with Canelo Alvarez. I think we had a great fight. He’d got a lot of respect for me now.”
