Current WBO super featherweight champion Emanuel Navarrete (38-1-1, 31 KOs) is moving up to face Denys Berinchyk (18-0, 9 KOs) for the vacant title on ESPN. Navarrete is looking to capture a title in his fourth weight class and set himself up for a potential big unification later this year.

Navarrete has been slowly building his resume, and his fan base has grown. Tickets for his fight on Saturday night have been selling well as the legend of Navarrete continues. He fought three times last year, and although his November fight with Robson Conceicao was close, he was still able to squeeze out a majority decision victory. This move up to lightweight will come with facing a tough opponent in Berinchyk, so we will soon find out if it was the right move to make or if he overplayed his hand.

Berinchyk is tough and undefeated but is 36 years old, and the question becomes whether this opportunity is coming too late for the Ukranian. He stepped into the ring only once in 2023, against Anthony Yigit, where he scored a unanimous decision victory. Can he solve Navarrete’s complex puzzle?
