The rematch we didn’t think would happen has now arrived to fight week. WBO super featherweight champion Emanuel Navarrete (38-2-1, 31 KOs) will defend his title against Oscar Valdez (32-2, 24 KOs) in a rematch of their August 2023 battle. The two men return to Arizona for the rematch, but this time, instead of the Desert Diamond Arena in Glendale, they will settle the score at the Footprint Center in Phoenix. Will it be a repeat of their first fight, or will Valdez find a way not only to beat Navarrete but also to capture the WBO title?

Although Navarrete won the first fight via unanimous decision, it was highly entertaining, making fans think that the rematch wouldn’t be any different. Navarrete is coming off a split-decision loss to Denys Berinchyk at lightweight, so seeing how he performs back at super featherweight will be interesting.

Valdez won the WBO interim title earlier this year and is riding that momentum into Saturday night’s rematch. At 33, Valdez knows that every fight moving forward has a lot riding on it, so we may get the best version of Valdez at this point of his career come fight night.
