After a three-year-long hiatus, Errol Spence Jr. (28-1, 22 KOs) is making a comeback to the ring that made him a household name, with a showdown against Tim Tszyu (27-3, 18 KOs). But will this fight be his last? According to Spence Jr, only the moment would tell.

Speaking to Andre Ward on The Art of Ward, Spence Jr. admitted that he doesn’t outright decide the fate of his career.

“For me, I’m not going to give it all to boxing. It’s really a fight-by-fight basis. I might be done after this. It just all depends. Training camp, I still got eight weeks left, and I’m like, ‘Bro.’ I’ve been thinking about vacation spots,” he said.

Spence Jr recently admitted that before the Crawford fight, he wasn’t even sure he wanted to continue boxing and viewed the payday as a way to secure his family’s future. In his own words, he genuinely questioned whether he would ever fight again afterward. He’s also been through an enormous amount of physical wear and tear. Between years of tough weight cuts, a near-fatal car crash, an eye injury, and a punishing elite career, Spence has taken a lot of punishment.

At 36 years old, he has little left to prove in terms of legacy. As a matter of fact, Spence Jr seems to have shifted his priorities. In recent interviews, he has spoken about family, health, and living a more disciplined life.

He revealed that he wanted to cherish each moment inside and outside the ring and then make a decision when he feels called to it.

“I just want to sit and embrace the moment because I know this is over one day. It’s over one day and it’s not coming back. I don’t want to be 10 years down the line like, ‘Man, I should’ve enjoyed it more.’ So this time I’m going to fully embrace it,” he said. “I know I got a lot left.”

“It Was All Out of Whack”

Meanwhile, his loss against Terence Crawford still seems to be a sore spot in his heart. In the same interview, Spence Jr pointed to his camp and his lifestyle as the reason for the loss.

“It was just a lot of stuff that went wrong in that camp. Like even before that, the sparring partners, the guys didn’t fit, I had no southpaws to spar or nothing like that. It was all out of whack,” he said. “But it got to a point too where my body felt like basically, I was living wrong.”
