Jaron ‘Boots’ Ennis (32-0, 29 KOs) didn’t have the flashy knockout but was able to dominate and stop David Avanesyan (30-5-1, 18 KOs) in five rounds. Ennis drew over 14,000 fans at the Wells Fargo Arena in Philadelphia, PA.
Ennis started off fast with his power left jab, which hurt Avanesyan in the first round. Ennis landed a low blow towards the end of the round, which caused Avanesyan to fall down for a few minutes. Ennis began in the southpaw stance in the second round but quickly switched back to conventional. Avanesyan had a solid round as he kept the fight in close and didn’t allow Ennis to land those long shots.

The fight continued to take place on the inside throughout the third round as Ennis showed his supreme speed by him throwing a triple uppercut with the same hand during one of the sequences. Avanesyan was confused about what had just occurred and didn’t know how to react to the punches. Ennis continued to put on an offensive display throughout the fourth round. Avanesyan spent most of the round covering up with the high guard. Ennis landed a counter left hook in the fifth round, sending Avanesyan down for the fight’s only knockdown. After the round was over, Avanesyan’s corner said their fighter took enough punishment and called for the fight to be stopped.
Jalil Hackett Earns A Tough Unanimous Decision Victory
Welterweight prospect Jalil Hackett (9-0, 7 KOs) earned a tough unanimous decision over Peter Dobson (16-2, 9 KOs) as the co-main. The judges scored this one 97-93, 96-94 and 97-93 for Hackett. It was a quality fight for a young fighter like Hackett, who went past the fourth round for the first time in his career.

Hackett began the fight with a solid left jab, but his overhand right made Dobson hesitate to exchange. Hackett appeared to be the fighter with the most confidence in the first round, as Dobson couldn’t figure out how to get to Hackett. The second round was fought in close as both fighters had some good exchanges. Hackett kept changing the levels of his offense, and Dobson landed some good, hard overhand rights.
Dobson landed some big left and right hook combinations on Hackett’s head in the third round. Although Dobson saw some success, Hackett doubled and tripled his jab, which helped land his left hook on Dobson’s head and body. Hackett had a huge fourth round as he landed a left hook to Dobson’s head, who looked visibly hurt. Hackett poured it on, but Dobson couldn’t put anything together to keep Hackett off of him.

A huge lump on the side of Dobson’s head appeared at the beginning of the fifth round. Hackett kept with his pressure while Dobson started his offense again with straight right hands and left hooks. Hackett dominated the sixth round, but in the seventh, Dobson had a bounce-back round as he was effective with his combinations. Hackett appeared to have taken the round off.
Dobson controlled the action in the eighth round as he landed a few hard body shots, forcing Hackett to fight off the back foot. While Hackett slowed down a bit in the ninth round, the veteran Dobson picked up the pace and set the tone throughout the round. Dobson kept the pressure with his left and right hooks. The final round saw both men go blow for blow until the final bell.
Sky Nicholson Scores Shutout Unanimous Decision

Skye Nicolson (11-0, 1 KO) scored an easy unanimous decision over Dyana Vargas (19-2, 12 KOs), which didn’t result in an entertaining fight. All three judges had this one 100-90 for Nicholson, who now looks to potential unification fights down the road. The fight consisted of a right jab by Nicholson with a few overhand lefts while Vargas lunged and missed throughout the whole fight. Nicholson moved well and didn’t allow herself to get caught with any of Vargas’ punches. During the in-ring post-fight interview, Nicholson called for her to fight mandatories next instead of going after the unified featherweight champion Amanda Serrano.

Khalil Coe (9-0-1, 7 KOs) made the statement he needed to open up the DAZN telecast. Coe scored an impressive second-round TKO over Kwame Ritter (11-2, 9 KOs). In the first round. Ritter was dictating the pace with a solid left jab and left hook to the head. He would later switch to southpaw and give Coe even more issues. In the second round, Coe came out aggressive and landed an overhand right that rocked Ritter back, and he followed it up with a left hook, sending Ritter down to the canvas. Ritter would get up, but Coe would throw a barrage of punches and landed a straight right hand, which was the punch that forced the referee to stop the fight.
