If you’ve been hiding under a rock (no pun intended) since the New Year, Wrestling, specifically the WWE, has seen a surge like they haven’t had in a long time. Whether you can point towards Paul “Triple H” Levesque as the reason for that since taking over for Vince McMahon or the great storytelling created by the writers and executed by the wrestlers, the WWE is on fire. Leading that huge momentum wave is none other than The Rock.
Do you need proof? Once the story of The Rock, Roman Reigns, Cody Rhodes, and Seth Rollins took shape, records began to shatter, culminating in the biggest WrestleMania in the company’s history. The Rock turning heel and pushing his character’s boundaries in a way no one imagined was the driving force for it all. “The Final Boss” was the hottest thing going in the industry and the emotional outpour for Cody Rhodes on Night 2 after winning the title was all the proof you needed to know how invested everyone was in the story. As The Rock repeatedly said leading up to WrestleMania, “Wrestling is cool again.”
The good thing about the social media era is that fans know it all, and everyone knew The Rock was heading back to Hollywood after WrestleMania so that he could start filming an upcoming movie. But considering how great the storyline with Cody Rhodes went, he couldn’t leave without having fans wondering, and he did just that on the Monday Night Raw after WrestleMania. The Rock handed something to Cody and said “Don’t ever break my heart again.” Cody Rhodes would then bring The Rock’s name up again at this week’s RAW episode, which fueled speculation that he still had unfinished business with “The Final Boss”.
Every mainstream media outlet took the ride with The Rock & Cody Rhodes, and still after being two weeks removed from WrestleMania, there are conversations on podcasts about it. In this episode of The Pat McAfee Show, his guest was NBA legend Charles Barkley, who had some thoughts about what he’s seen in the last few months. Barkley said, “I’ve been watching the WWE, and The Rock is unbelievable. When he’s on television, you GOTTA watch.”

A source has confirmed to FightsATW that The Rock is scheduled to return in the Fall, which aligns with Crown Jewel in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, The Royal Rumble in January, and the start of WrestleMania season. Could this all be geared towards The Rock vs. Cody Rhodes at WrestleMania 41, or will the story somehow turn into The Rock vs Roman Reigns, which was supposed to happen this year, instead of what we got? Whichever way this goes, everyone can agree that “The Final Boss” Rock is the closest thing to the Hollywood Hulk Hogan character that dominated in the late 90s as the leader of the NWO (New World Order) and the WWE Universe is here for it.
