Francis Ngannou Explains His ‘Vision’ After the Deontay Wilder Callout

Francis Ngannou (0-2) has a vision for his future fights, including a potential battle against Deontay Wilder (43-4-1, 42 KOs).

Wilder recently expressed interest in facing ‘The Predator’ in a fight. This seemed rather unlikely as Ngannou had made his long-awaited return to MMA with a sensational first-round knockout against Renan Fereira at the PFL Super Fights: Battle of the Giants, in turn winning the inaugural PFL Super Fights Heavyweight title. However, Ngannou has asked boxing fans not to fret, as there just might be a possibility for a Wilder vs. Ngannou showdown.

Wilder’s last fight was in June, where he suffered a loss against Zhilei Zhang. Meanwhile, he has been in talks with Ngannou’s team since last October with little to no luck of a potential fight taking place. Talking to TMZ, Wilder revealed that he is ready to resume talks with Ngannou’s team. “The best is yet to come. Yeah, we’re still going. We’re still here, just getting things together,” he said. “I hope life is going beautifully for you brother. That fight is a conversation I’m still looking to get in the mix and talk about.”

Ngannou, on the other hand, revealed that there might be a possibility of the fight happening. However, he added that the situation is more or less the same since their last conversation.

“Yes, I mean, since we spoke nothing has changed. In my vision, if I only have a couple of fights left, I would like that to be one of them. No, I may not compete in boxing next. I’m going to wait a couple of months to see if the PFL pulls something up,” he said. “If not, I will see if there’s something in boxing but it’s not like it’s at the top of my mind. I know I can do each of them in the future.”

“Respect Me A Little Bit”

With his recent win against Mike Tyson, Jake Paul has been riding the victory train. During the same interview with TMZ, Ngannou was asked about the prospect of fighting Paul, a notion that he wasted no time in shutting down. “Come on, like, respect me a little bit,” he said.

Ngannou, however, mentioned that Paul is an interesting fighter regardless and that he certainly knows how to set up fights that entertain fans. But, on the other hand, fighting him would be out of the question. “It was entertaining, whether you like it or not. There was a curiosity to see Mike Tyson at this age; can he stand? Can he, can he? And they did entertain,” he added.
