Fundora vs Tszyu 2 Fight Results: Fundora Scores Definitive 7th Rd TKO

WBC junior middleweight champion Sebastian Fundora (23-1-1, 15 KOs) scored the most definitive victory of his career when he stopped Tim Tszyu (25-3, 18 KOs) before the start of the eighth round.

When Tszyu walked over to his corner at the end of the seventh round, they did not like what they saw and called for the fight to be stopped. Tszyu admitted that Fundora is tough and the best fighter at 154.

In the opening round, Fundora was pumping that right jab while Tszyu was doing a ton of foot feints to see what would work. After disguising the right jab, Fundora landed a left hook that sent Tszyu crashing down. Tszyu would beat the count and make it through the round. In what was an all-out battle in the second round, Tszyu came out of it with a cut on the side of his right eye. Fundora kept with the 1-2 combination down the middle throughout the round. Tszyu, at times, landed that big overhand right.

In the third round, Fundora kept pumping that right jab as he kept Tszyu on the outside. Tszyu seemed visibly frustrated as he could not get on the inside, but when he did, Tszyu made it count with his overhand right. The fourth round was divided into two halves. In the first half, Fundora was dominating Tszyu. He had him in the corner and was teeing off on him with 1-2’s and left uppercuts. Then in the second half, Tszyu came on and buckled Fundora with a huge right hand. Tszyu finished the round strong as Fundora was a little buzzed.

Fundora took back control of the fight in the fifth round behind his right jab, keeping the distance of the fight outside of mid-range. Tszyu missed more than he landed throughout the round.

In the sixth round, Fundora kept doing what was working for him behind the right jab, but Tszyu was able to cut the distance between them, allowing him to throw straight rights to the chest of Fundora. Plenty of feints occurred throughout the round as these two high-level athletes continued to battle.

Tszyu came roaring back in the seventh round and began to unleash his offense while in close. Fundora was either tired or just decided to take the fight on the inside. Either way, it was a phone booth-style setup as they went to war. Fundora then began to hit Tszyu with everything towards the end. Tszyu held onto the ropes as the bell rang. Once he sat down, his corner stopped the fight as they had seen enough. Fundora then celebrated as he scored a definitive TKO.
