Gervonta Davis Believes That Jake Paul ‘Couldn’t Get the Knockout’ Against Mike Tyson

Jake Paul (11-1, 7 KOs) was not skilled enough to knockout Mike Tyson (50-7-2, 44 KOs), according to Gervonta Davis (30-0, 28 KOs).

‘The Problem Child’ faced ‘The Baddest Man on the Planet’ at the At&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas in November. While the fight continues to remain highly controversial, Paul was declared the winner by decision. Davis recently shared his thoughts on where the Paul brothers stand as boxers and why Paul was only able to secure a decision against Tyson despite their age gap.

Davis was a guest on rapper Lil Yatchy’s , ‘A Safe Place Podcast’. In conversation, Yatchy asked him if it was ok to call the Paul brothers boxers.

“I think it’s ok to call Jake Paul a boxer. Only reason I say that is because he do be in the gym; he be working on stuff. But the way I go about it, the fight that he fought Mike Tyson, I don’t think he should’ve fought Mike Tyson,” he said.

Davis mentioned that Paul tried to discredit Tyson’s legacy by choosing to fight him way past his prime. Moreover, Paul had stated that he tried to knock out Tyson. “Yes, you did, you just couldn’t get the knockout,” he said. “He tried to knock him out for sure. But it’s cool.”

Yatchy then asked if it was still disrespectful if they had both mutually agreed to the fight for a significant amount of money. Davis was quick to disagree by saying that the people in Tyson’s inner circle shouldn’t have let him take the fight against Paul. “When you’ve been in the sport for so long and you’re at that age, there’s not really more left in your tank to go in there,”he said.

Davis urged that money isn’t everything, especially when the physical risks of taking up the fight are taken into consideration. In fact, he even highlighted that Tyson is still on the road to recovery three months down the line.

“Size Matters”

Logan Paul, however, is certain that he can demolish Davis in a fight. Talking to TI on the latest episode of the Impulsive podcast, the older Paul brother was told that “people will recognize” him more if he fights Davis.

These words certainly touched a nerve, as Paul went on a rather loud tirade on how he would destroy Davis. “Size matters. I don’t give a f*ck how good he is, you understand? When I fought Floyd, I realized that size matters. I would f*ck up Gervonta in a fight,” he said.
