Fighters are selling their souls to Turki Alalshikh, according to Gervonta ‘Tank’ Davis (30-0, 28 KOs).
‘Tank’ will put his WBA lightweight title on the line against Lamont Roach (25-1-1, 10 KOs) in a potentially sensational showdown at Barclay’s Centre on Saturday night. Meanwhile, there is no denying that Alalshikh has been organizing the biggest fights in the world of boxing currently. However, Davis does not share the best relationship with Alalshikh and even had a few choice accusations against the boxers who side with the boxing mastermind.
The recent Riyadh photo has been sending mixed messages across the world of boxing. With Alalshikh in the front surrounded by prominent names from the world of boxing, the People’s Tower vibes were certainly evident.
Following the pre-fight conference, reporters asked Davis about his absence from the picture. And his answer was exactly what a lot of boxing aficionados were thinking.
“That was scary. The way he was talking, ‘Yeah, that’s my man. We want to get Tank over here and fight.’ Man, I already know what y’all going to do,” he said.

Davis is not looking forward to fighting in Riyadh anytime soon, or in his own words, he doesn’t trust fighting there. Mainly owing to the fact that most fights that have taken place there have ended in controversy.
The cultish vibes of the photograph haven’t been lost to Davis either. Comparing Alalshikh to the “devil,” he even delved into what he thought about the photograph.
“Every time I say something, it’s like I’m hating because I’m going against the grain. Yeah, people selling themselves. That picture with everybody was in the room [posing with Turki Alalshikh]. That looked like some devil sh*t, didn’t it? Facts, though. Devil sh*t like they sold their souls,” he said.
“Not All Money Is Good Money”

While he is aware of the money he could make by fighting in Riyadh, especially now that he is contemplating retirement, Davis is unsure about entering into any form of partnership with Alalshikh. In fact, he even expressed concerns about Alalshikh’s control over the sport of boxing.
“Not all money’s good money. No, nah. I just don’t like how this guy [Alalshikh] comes in the game, and he doesn’t know [anything] about the sport. Nothing,” he said. “He keeps saying, ‘I’m going to do this, I’m going to do that.’ You don’t know nothing about the sport. How you going to do that?”
