Gervonta ‘Tank’ Davis Promises ‘Fireworks’ on Fight Night

Gervonta ‘Tank’ Davis (30-0, 28 KOs) vs. Lamont Roach (25-1-1, 10 KOs) is going to be an explosive affair.

The heavy hitter from Baltimore will put his WBA lightweight title on the line against Roach in a potentially sensational showdown at Barclay’s Center on Saturday night. With barely a day remaining for the showdown, Davis has a message for boxing aficionados: things are going to get fiery.

The final pre-fight press conference saw ‘Tank’ Davis open up about his plans for fight night. In fact, he stressed that both Roach and he would be coming into fight night as the best versions of themselves.

“All the talk and all the work I put in. Come Saturday night, it’ll be a great fight. Lamont is coming in with his best, and I’m coming with my best. Right here is the top of the DMV area on the stage. Even on the undercard,” he said. “We got great talent fighting on the card Saturday night.”

The iron-fisted champ expressed his gratitude for being a part of the event and to be at the pinnacle of his career. He even highlighted that Barclay’s Centre was like a “second home” since winning his first title at the venue in 2017. Amidst all the heartwarming words that he shared, Davis was also made sure to assure fans that the fight will be nothing less than an explosion of pugilistic glory.

“I’m going to do me regardless. I think about what I’ve been through and what I’ve lost and go in there and get my man. It’s going to get bad. He’s been talking too much too, so we’ll see Saturday night. You know what I come to do and why I’m here. I don’t want to say too much. I’ll keep it polite. I know there will be fireworks,” he said.

While he isn’t taking Davis lightly, Roach is looking forward to bringing his “tool bag” and having fun on fight night.

“I don’t have much to say,” said Lamont Roach Jr. “I’m here to boogie. Saturday night will be a hell of a night. I’m coming with my tool bag. I have everything in my tool bag, and I got a big bag,” he said during the same press conference. “Everybody says I’m just here to show up, but when I do show up, I show out. That belt coming out. Hopefully, he is bringing his belt too. That belt coming out.”
