Add FightsATW on GoogleHeavyweight Frank Sanchez entered his fight with Richard Torrez Jr. as the slight underdog, but that changed quickly on Saturday night during their live DAZN PPV bout, when he scored a huge second-round knockout.
Sanchez (26-1, 19 KOs) was a little slow to catch up to Torrez’s speed in the first round. When he went back to his corner, trainer Eddy Reynoso told Sanchez that Torrez (14-1, 12 KOs) was going to keep charging in and that he needed to keep his distance and pick him off from mid-range. Sanchez remained patient for a few seconds into the second round, but when Torrez dipped to his right without keeping his hands up, Sanchez landed a huge right hook that hit Torrez flush on the face. Torrez’s body shut down immediately before he hit the canvas. Torrez tried to get up but fell right back down, prompting the referee to stop the fight.
Just like that, Sanchez thrusts right back into the heavyweight title picture, and his knockout drew quite a reaction on social media. Below are a few of those posts.
Sanchez’s knockout over Torrez and the manner in which he did it will be a candidate for upset of the year.
