Hulk Hogan Booed Heavily on WWE RAW on Netflix Debut

On Monday night, the WWE debuted its RAW on Netflix show in Los Angeles, CA, and although the show as a whole was considered a success, one portion of it is coming under fire involving a WWE Hall of Famer. Wrestling icon Hulk Hogan came out in the middle of the show with his manager, Jimmy Hart, to announce a brand partnership with the WWE for his new alcohol beverage, “Real American Beer.” Those in attendance were not happy to see Hogan and showered him with boos so loud that you could barely hear what he was saying.

The 71-year-old Hogan, whose real name is Terry Bollea, was in the news a few months back as he was at President-elect Donald Trump’s rally, which did not go over well with those who are a part of the opposite political party. The WWE must’ve underestimated how bad of a reaction Hogan would receive on RAW, given California is primarily a democratic state.

Although it took years for Hogan to recover from the racist comments he made that were leaked in 2007 when referring to his daughter’s love life, he found himself in hot water again in 2013 with the Gawker Media scandal where he was illegally videotaped having sex with the wife of radio personality Bubba The Love Sponge in 2013. Even with all of that, a good amount of fans were willing to move past that and only hold him in high regard for the career he had inside the ring.

On RAW, the WWE Universe in attendance had enough of Hogan, and when he came out to promote his product on Monday night, the fans showed him that the Hogan era, who can come back home to the WWE and be showered with love, is over. The WWE will now have to figure out how they pivot from this reaction they did not see coming, as the deal between them and Hogan is fresh for a product that hasn’t been released as of yet.
