Terence Crawford (42-0, 31 KOs) was recently stripped of his WBC super-middleweight title, and boy, did he not take it lightly.
In a heated and expletive-heavy message from the inside of his car, Crawford, who was last seen showcasing an impressive performance against Canelo Alvarez in September, spoke his mind and then some while trashing the WBC and its president, Mauricio Sulaiman.
“I saw Mauricio had a lot to say about me not paying him $300,000, plus another $100,000-something for sanctioning fees. And he said that I didn’t apologize,” he said. “Like who the f*ck do you think I am? Boy, you better slap yourself. I ain’t paying your ass sh*t. What the f*ck are you talking about? What makes you so better than any of the other sanctioning bodies?”
According to the sanctioning body, the Omaha native’s belt was taken away due to him failing to pay the mandatory fees of $300,000. Moreover, the WBC claimed that it had given Crawford a discount, reducing the sanctioning fee from 3% to 0.6%, on his reported $50 million purse for fighting Canelo.

In a statement, the organization said it sent “multiple communications” to Crawford and his team, only for them to be ignored.
With Crawford adamant in not paying, he now considers the WBC title an unimportant one.
“The WBA, WBO, and IBF accepted what I was giving them, but you. You, the WBC, think you are better than everybody, don’t you? You have the green belt, which don’t mean sh*t. The real belt is The Ring belt, which is free,” he said. “You can take the f*cking belt. It’s a trophy anyway. The sh*t am I paying you every time I step foot in the f*cking ring? It doesn’t make sense.”
“You Were Mad That I Beat Canelo”
However, this might not be the reason, so believes Crawford. According to ‘Bud’, Sulaiman was unhappy with the fact that he emerged victorious, rather than the organization’s favourite, Alvarez.
“Then he said that I allegedly made $50 million in the Alvarez fight. You don’t know how much I made. Once again, you’re speculating,” he said during the same rant. “So, listen Mauricio. I appreciate you, because everyone in the world knows you were going for Canelo. You were mad that I beat Canelo. It’s OK. It happens. If you were a real fan of the sport, you would have said congratulations instead of having that smirk on your face, all mad and pouting.”
