Regis Prograis (30-3, 24 KOs) is all set to fight it out against Conor Benn (24-1, 14 KOs) in London on Saturday. The fight also marks his first bout following his split from promoter Eddie Hearn.
Talking at their presser, Prograis revealed that the Matchroom boss still holds a special place in his heart.
“I love Eddie. I love Eddie. I don’t feel no type of way at all to any of the noise or anything that’s being said, it’s just one of the things, isn’t it?” he said. “What I do know, what I can say is my kids are set up for life. What I can say is this changes my kids’ kids’ life.”
While looking closely at the scenario revolving around his exit, Prograis parting ways with Hearn largely came down to momentum and direction in his career. After losing his WBC super-lightweight title to Devin Haney in late 2023, Prograis struggled to regain a clear path back to the top while fighting under Matchroom, with fewer big opportunities materializing than expected.
The split can’t exactly be called hostile; it’s a strategic move, as he sought greater control in the next phase of his career after a tough title loss and a period of inactivity. While he is yet to sign with a promoter, he will be fighting Benn on the Ring card.

“What I can say is it’s an opportunity I couldn’t turn down, irrelevant of all the noise, irrelevant of everything. Hopefully me and Eddie can sit down,” he said.
“They’re In The Driver’s Seat”
Now that he is fighting under the Ring card, will Prograis look into continuing with the promotion? It sure seems like he has thought about it rather intently.
“Obviously they’re in the driver’s seat because the way they’ve looked after me so well. I’m extremely blessed by this opportunity. The money of course is lovely, but also the opportunity as well and to be able to fight so soon,” he said.
